    BOSTON — For the second year in a row, Dollar General has topped Kantar Retail’s opening price point survey, narrowly beating out Walmart. 

  • Pez Candy offers Duane Reade-themed Pez dispensers

    ORANGE, Conn. — Pez Candy earlier this year released several promotional Pez dispensers featuring Walgreens and subsidiary Duane Reade delivery trucks. 

    While Walgreens stores got three different promotional trucks, the Duane Reade pharmacy stores got the Up Market fresh and the NICE trucks along with their Duane Reade promotional trucks. 

  • McKesson takes majority stake in German drug distributor Celesio

    SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson on Thursday confirmed its proposed acquisition of Celesio, a leading international wholesale and retail company and provider of logistics and services to the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, with an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Celesio for €23 per share (US$31.75 per share) and to launch parallel voluntary public tender offers for the remaining publicly traded shares and outstanding convertible bonds of Celesio.

A new report from Walgreens released Wednesday suggests U.S. adults missed 230 million work days last season, while children lost more than 90 million school days due to flu-related illness.
