  • Following Rite Aid deal, Walgreens will focus on patient care and beauty

    SAN FRANCISCO  — Two things will happen when, as many reports are suggesting, the merger between Walgreens Boots Alliance and Rite Aid is approved within the next week. Walgreens will bring to bear an augmented value to its health partners through a significantly greater market penetration. And that same national market heft will benefit the Chicagoland retailer as it breathes a little pizzazz back into its beauty offerings.

  • FedEx dropoff and pickup services going live within Walgreens locations

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — FedEx Corp. and Walgreens on Wednesday announced a long-term alliance agreement that will offer convenient access to FedEx dropoff and pickup services at thousands of Walgreens locations across the United States beginning within the next several months.

  • Walgreens transfers operations of 4 retail clinics to Florida's Sacred Heart Health System

    DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreens and Sacred Heart Health System on Monday signed an agreement to have Sacred Heart operate and provide all clinical services at four retail health clinics to be located within Walgreens stores in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.   
     

  • Theranos cuts 41% of workforce

    PALO ALTO, Calif. — Theranos Friday announced it will cut 155 jobs, or 41% of its workforce, leaving the company with 220 employees.

    According to Palo Alto-based Theranos, further re-engineering of the company’s operations are needed as it works towards commercialization of its miniLab testing platform and its related technologies.

  • Walgreens and Indianapolis-area Community Health Network expand partnership

    DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreens and Community Health Network on Friday expanded their existing relationship – Community Health Network will exclusively operate and provide clinical services at 12 retail health clinics located within Walgreens stores across central Indiana.
     

  • Walgreens Q1 sales up 1.4% as it works toward closing Rite Aid deal

    DEERFIELD, Ill. – Still no announcement that Walgreens Boots Alliance has closed the deal on its proposed acquisition of Rite Aid, but that announcement will come soon, the company stated Thursday morning after posting first quarter sales of $20.7 billion, up 1.4%.

  • A major shift from heavy buying to light buying

    A key trend captured by the 2016 TABS Analytics Vitamin and Minerals Supplements study is the continued decline in the number of heavy buyers (those who purchased more than three types of vitamins in a year). Heavy-buyer penetration peaked at 40% in 2012, but in 2016, heavy-buyer penetration dropped to 30%.
