  • M&M's fans elect new color mix for limited edition candy packages

    HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Admit it, you have a favorite M&M's color, and you'll defend that "melts in your mouth, not in your hands" color with robust vigor. M&M'S has a rich, "colorful" history dating back more than 70 years. Fans were never given the chance to choose specific color combinations for mass-produced packages — until now. Mars Chocolate North America announced new limited edition 8-oz.

  • Albertsons to feature gluten-free pizzas from Better4U Foods

    DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — More than five-dozen Albertsons stores in the West will start selling gluten-free frozen pizzas this month.

    Better4U Foods said Friday that 63 stores in Albertsons' Intermountain West Division — which includes Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming — would stock the pizzas. Pizza varieties will include Gluten-Free Four Cheese, Gluten-Free Uncured Pepperoni and the vegan Dairy-Free Gluten-Free Roasted Vegetable.

  • Atkins Nutritionals introduces Atkins Frozen Meals

    DENVER — Atkins Nutritionals has launched a line of low-carbohydrate frozen meals that will be available nationwide starting in January 2013, the company said.

    Atkins said Atkins Frozen Meals, which includes nine entrees, were developed with a focus on taste and ingredients such as vegetables, creams, sauces, and meats without any fillers or preservatives. Dishes include pot pies without the crust, turkey and green beans without stuffing, and egg scrambles without hash browns.

    CHICAGO — Rice-A-Roni has introduced single-serve, microwavable, flavored rice cups for people in search of a quick meal.

    The instant food brand announced Wednesday the introduction of the new cups, which include long-grain rice, toasted vermicelli and others, and require only water and microwaving for three-an-a-half minutes.

  • Banning tobacco displays may curb youth smoking, study finds

    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Hiding tobacco product displays at the point of sale may help reduce smoking among young people, a new study suggests.

    The study, conducted by RTI International and Tarheel Technologies and published in the January 2013 issue of the journal Pediatrics, examined the behaviors of more than 1,200 smokers and likely smokers ages 13 years to 17 years in a virtual convenience store in which tobacco products were either hidden behind a cabinet or openly displayed along with tobacco ads.

  • Alexia Foods launches sweet potato rolls

    EAGLE, Idaho — Frozen food maker Alexia Foods has introduced new rolls made with sweet potatoes, the company said Tuesday.

    Alexia, which already makes other bread products like Ciabatta Rolls, Ancient Grain Rolls, Classic French Rolls and Focaccia Rolls, said the new Sweet Potato Rolls can be prepared in less than 20 minutes.
