  • Energizer to launch new charging solutions

    NEW ORLEANS — Energizer showcased its new line of portable chargers earlier this month at the International CTIA Wireless Conference's MobileFocus event in New Orleans.

    The chargers, which are expected to roll out this year, feature sleek, ergonomic designs, along with blue LED charging and battery status indicators. The products on display were:

    • Energizer instant charger: Available for iPhone, iPod and micro USB devices, use AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries to increase the run time of smartphones;

  • Peet's Coffee & Tea introduces Baridi iced coffee blend

    EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Peet's Coffee & Tea has launched a new iced coffee blend.

    Baridi (meaning “cold” in Swahili) blends together Peet's selected premium East African coffees to provide coffee enthusiasts with a refreshing yet bold beverage.

    Baridi iced coffee blend is available for a limited time in 12-oz. bags in grocery stores nationwide with a suggested retail price range from $9.99 to $11.99.

  • Molson Coors launches new brews, packaging

    DENVER, Colo. — Molson Coors has rolled out new products and packaging innovations.

    In the United States, the company has introduced the caramel apple spiced ale under its Blue Moon brand and will roll out such brews as lemon berry shandy and snowdrift vanilla porter from Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. during the fall and winter. What's more, the company's MillerCoors division is rolling out Batch 19, a pre-Prohibition style lager, nationwide.

  • Harris Poll EquiTrend ranks Americans' favorite food brands

    NEW YORK — Harris Interactive has unveiled the results of its 2012 Harris Poll EquiTrend study, which measured and compared more than 1,500 brands.

    Brands of the year included:

    • Greek yogurt brand Chobani, which topped competitors Yoplait, Dannon and Stonyfield;

    • Orville Redenbacher was named popcorn brand of the year;

    • Oreo was named cookie brand of the year;

    • Lay's potato chips topped other salty snack brands; and

  • Name of Kraft Foods' global snacks biz OKed by shareholders

    NORTHFIELD, Ill. — More than 90% of Kraft Foods shareholders (who cast a vote) gave the company the green light to change its name to Mondelez International.

  • Popsicle rolls out Yosicle line

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Popsicle has grown its brand to include a line of treats that contain nonfat yogurt.

    Yosicle pops are available in four varieties and three shapes, including:

    • Yosicle Torpedo! pops feature three flavors in one low-fat, creamy pop: purple berry, watermelon and vanilla;

  • Bacardi expands RTD line with low-calorie beverages

    CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Bacardi has launched a line of low-calorie, ready-to-drink-beverages.

    Bacardi classic cocktails light builds off of the original the brand's classic cocktails "open and pour" line. Less than 95 calories for a 4-oz. serving, the beverages are available in pina colada and mojito flavors and made with natural flavors, real juice and pure cane sugar.

    Bacardi classic cocktails light will be distributed in 750-ml size and 1.75 liters.

  • ConAgra acquires Kangaroo Brands' pita chip business

    OMAHA, Neb. — In an effort to grow its presence in private-label foods, ConAgra Foods has acquired the pita chip business of Kangaroo Brands.

    The acquisition includes a manufacturing facility located in Milwaukee, Wis., and approximately 50 employees who joined ConAgra Foods from Kangaroo Brands. Kangaroo Brands will continue to own and market its pita bread and frozen sandwiches. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
