  • CVS Health offers 2018 outlook

    As it forges ahead with its proposed acquisition of Aetna, CVS Health on Thursday shared guidance for its 2018, during which it said it expects its operating profit rise between 1% and 4%. For the retail/long-term-care area of the business, the Woonsocket, R.I.-based company said that it expects low single-digit growth, with expected low- to mid-single-digit growth in the pharmacy services segment.

  • McKesson closes RxCrossroads deal

    McKesson on Wednesday completed its previously announced acquisition of RxCrossroads. RxCrossroads has become a part of the company’s McKesson Specialty Health business.

    According to the wholesaler, the acquisition is expected to enhance McKesson’s existing commercialization solutions for manufacturers of branded, specialty, generic and biosimilar drugs, including comprehensive patient support (“hub”) services, custom pharmacy solutions and third-party logistics, allowing McKesson to grow its end-to-end offerings for manufacturers.

  • Walmart, CVS Health execs to address NRF 2018 convention

    Executives from Walmart and CVS Health will be among the biggest names addressing the National Retail Federation’s 107th annual convention in mid-January 2018. Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillon and Helena Foulkes, CVS Health executive vice president and president of CVS Pharmacy will address the conference on its first and second days, respectively.

    That is what industry guru, Mack Elevation Forum founder and DSN partner Dan Mack told a packed house at the 19th annual Drug Store News Industry Issues Summit at New York City’s Plaza Hotel in late November. Moderating a panel of executives from such top retailers as CVS Pharmacy, Target, Walmart, Walgreens and Sam’s Club, Mack challenged them to explain to the audience what they were doing to remain relevant. 
  • CVS Pharmacy brings same-day prescription delivery to Manhattan

    Manhattanites can now get their prescriptions without leaving their apartments. CVS Pharmacy has introduced same-day prescription delivery in the New York City borough, which the company said it’s offering free of charge and is part of a larger push for prescription delivery across the country. 

  • CVS Health, Aetna to merge

    CVS Health and Aetna on Sunday announced their plan to merge. Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Health will be acquiring Aetna, whose headquarters are in Hartford, Conn.,  for roughly $69 billion, or $207 per share. The two companies said that the merger offers the potential to change how patients access care at lower cost.

  • CVS Health to mark National Influenza Vaccination Week

    With flu season set to kick into gear soon, CVS Health is marking National Influenza Vaccination Week by reminding patients to get their flu shots. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established the week of awareness to remind patients to get vaccinated. The Woonsocket, R.I.-based company recently ran a survey that found that 61% of patients get a flu vaccine every year, or plan to get one this year.
