Feather Mobility won the Drug Store News Buyers Choice Award for its Feather 27X Scooter during ECRM’s Home Health Care Session held earlier this month in Kansas City. Blanor Products was a finalist for its PottyCap, a hands-free portable female urinal.

Both products were selected from dozens of entries submitted by participating suppliers and displayed in the hospitality area of the session. Attending buyers evaluated each entry and cast their votes based on product packaging and innovation.

“With today’s home health care products, those suffering with mobility issues can still lead active and fulfilling lives,” said Michael Castillo, senior vice president of pharmacy/medical markets for ECRM. “Both Buyers Choice Award winners are a great example of brands that are developing innovative solutions that address the challenges of limited mobility.”

Feather Mobility was launched in 2018 by Owner & CEO Joseph Pierkarski, who, after 20 years of selling wheelchairs, realized that they were typically ugly, heavy and expensive. So he decided to create a brand that builds beautiful, lightweight and affordable wheelchairs with its flagship product, The Feather Chair, which weighed only 13 pounds.

Since then, the company has rolled out several products including its Feather Chair HD with a 22-inch wide seat that can hold someone up to 350 lbs. A power chair and scooter were next, followed by a 13-pound transport chair.

The newly-launched Feather 27X Scooter was designed for the mobility scooter user who is on the go. It’s a one-piece foldable motorized scooter that weighs only 27 pounds without the battery and folds small enough to fit in the overhead compartment of an airplane.

It also meets the guidelines for cruise travel. Its design prioritizes ease of use and comfort, making it ideal for users seeking a practical solution for navigating traveling with a mobility scooter. The scooter’s 4-wheel lightweight frame has a 250-pound weight capacity, a 6-mile drive range, allows for quick and easy transport from one point to another, and folds quickly and easily.

The brand’s PottyCap is a hands-free portable female urinal designed to assist women in urinating with less effort from their bedside and wheelchair. Monya Faye Pryor, the innovator behind PottyCap, has over 40 years of experience in physical therapy, and has witnessed first-hand the consequences of urinary incontinence by having to repeatedly treat patients with fall-related injuries that occurred while they were trying to get from their bed to the bathroom.

PottyCap provides a valuable solution for women dealing with incontinence or medical challenges, with a discreet and practical alternative to manage their needs comfortably and with dignity. The product addresses the inconvenience and discomfort associated with traditional solutions by offering a hands-free, ergonomic, and portable female urinal which mimics the natural seated position for urination.

It eliminates the need for traditional toilet facilities, providing a mess free experience by channeling the urine away from the body into a detachable bottle, which has a 32-ounce capacity to minimize overflow concern and facilitating multiple uses. The ergonomic grip enables one-handed operation, catering to women with medical challenges such as strokes, arthritis, mobility limitations or orthopedic conditions, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all users.
