Gillette creates environmentally friendly shaving, skin care brand Planet Kind

Gillette is looking to show some kindness to both the skin and the planet with a brand-new collection of products.

Planet Kind is the latest shaving and skin care line from the Boston-based company, which contains packaging that is not only recyclable but also made with 85% recycled paper, 85% recycled plastic and infinitely recyclable aluminum.

“Planet Kind makes it easier to incorporate eco-friendly choices into your shaving and skincare routine,” John Claughton, vice president of North America grooming at P&G said. “We know consumers are looking for sustainable products that are kind to skin, and don’t want to compromise on performance. Our Planet Kind products are designed with this in mind and are backed by a brand people already know and trust.”

Products part of the Planet Kind lineup includes a razor with a handle that has been made from 60% recycled plastic, razor blades, moisturizer, face wash and face cream.

In addition, to accompany the launch of the line, Gillette partnered with the organization Plastic Bank, which for every Planet Kind product purchased will prevent 10 plastic bottles from entering the ocean, the company said.

“Our goal at Plastic Bank is to work with like-minded organizations to create environmental, social and economic impact,” David Katz, CEO and founder at Plastic Bank said. “Together with Planet Kind, we are reducing ocean plastic and empowering the world to thrive.”

Currently, Planet Kind products are available for purchase at Target stores nationwide, Target.com and planetkindbygillette.com.
