Nonprofit organization Lipstick Angels is looking to spark joy and confidence and uplift individuals affected by cancer through its initiative — Beauty Boxes of Hope.

The boxes feature personalized and oncology-sensitive clean beauty, skin care and wellness products, and also come with a 1-on-1 virtual appointment with an oncology-trained professional that will guide users on how to utilize each product.

An example of current services offered by the organization includes gender-neutral beauty and wellness services, including facials, makeup applications, hand massages, aromatherapy and eyebrow tutorials.

Founded in March 2012 by Renata Helfman, a professional celebrity makeup artist, Lipstick Angels was inspired by her grandmother, Betty Elkes and patients in their cancer journey who she spent time with while volunteering at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

“We started Lipstick Angels because we saw that there was an opportunity to help patients through emotionally difficult, and often lonely, cancer treatments. What we could not have anticipated was how deep an impact this would have on the people we serve,” said Helfman.

Brands featured in the Beauty Boxes of Hope adhere to The Credo Clean Standard, and includes e.l.f. Beauty, Tower 28, Well People and Wonderskin, among others.

In 2023, the organization served 15,422 patients across Los Angeles, New York City, San Fransisco and Seattle, and plans to double the growth in 2024.

Recently, Lipstick Angels announced a partnership with the Tower Cancer Research Foundation to offer beauty and wellness support classes to the cancer community of Los Angeles.

“This first of its kind collaboration, will extend our impact to a wider audience, creating a more significant and successful outcome than we could have achieved individually,” said Christopher Clinton Conway, CEO of Tower Cancer Research Foundation.

The classes will cover a range of topics, including skincare, makeup techniques and holistic wellness practices. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to connect with others facing similar experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie and support, the companies said.

“Amidst the challenges of battling cancer, it's crucial for individuals to prioritize self-care and well-being,” said Helfman. “Through this collaboration, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to look and feel their best during their cancer journey.”
