The Lipstick Lesbians launch beauty product development course
The Lipstick Lesbians, best known as Alexis Androulakis, a beauty product developer and educator, and Dr. Christina Basias Androulakis, an education expert with a PhD in digital education and technology, are launching a virtual platform and course.
Let’s Learn About Beauty, or LLAB, is a platform that will be launched by the content creators, alongside an online beauty product development course.
The educational program consists of a comprehensive and publicly accessible digital curriculum focused on breaking down the product development process for color cosmetics.
Titled Beauty Mastery, the eight-hour course will be broken into four learning modules that cover each of the main color cosmetics categories—lip, cheek, eye and face.

“We’re thrilled to launch the first-ever beauty product development curriculum that’s accessible to everyone,” said Alexis Androulakis. “In the past, beauty industry professionals had no options other than trying to learn on the job, picking up whatever knowledge and skills they could on their own. We recognized the need for a holistic program that would leverage Christina’s expertise in creating innovative digital educational programs and my extensive background in product development.”
In addition, the modules, which showcase more than 100 products in total, utilize The Lipstick Lesbians’ learning tools, consisting of:
- Product Development Anchor: A framework and visual aid that aims to simplify the evaluation factors product developers consider for each cosmetic category; and
- Mindmap: Details what goes on in the minds of developers as products are evaluated and created.
Included with each learning module are shoppable links to featured luxury and mass-market products so users can purchase and evaluate them on their if they choose to do so.
Lastly, The Lipstick Lesbians partnered with veteran cosmetic chemist Julio Pina to lead a chemistry analysis portion of the online course.
“This course is designed for professional product developers and those looking to enter the field, as well as brand founders, retail sales associates, makeup artists, university students and consumer beauty enthusiasts of all stripes who just want to learn more about the formulations of products and how and why they actually work,” added Dr. Christina Basias Androulakis.

“The curriculum includes analyses of ingredients and brings every facet of the different formulations to life, so learners can gain a new understanding of the products. It’s a structured program that’s also fun and interactive and designed to accommodate a range of different learning styles.”
Alexis and Dr. Christina also will offer consulting services through the LLAB platform, as well as tailored experiences to support beauty brands’ own training programs.
Registration for the course is available on the LLAB website.
