GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Cold and flu remedies purchased over the counter at Meijer pharmacies have increased 30% over recent weeks, a possible sign consumers bypassed getting their annual flu shot during this winter season.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer pharmacies’ prescription program this month surpassed the $500 million milestone in savings for customers. The program, launched in Oct. 2006, has filled nearly 40 million free prescriptions in the past 10-plus years.

LOS ANGELES — Petnostics, manufacturer of the first at-home urine test for pets, announced its product line is available at all 230 Meijer locations throughout the country.

The company’s smart urine test kits, test strips and accessories allow pet owners to check their dog or cat’s health instantly via their iPhone or Android phone.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer made Christmas very merry this year when it once again surprised an unsuspecting customer in each of its 230 stores by "gifting" them their entire shopping cart filled with gifts and groceries upon checkout.

ALPENA, Mich. — Meijer and local heroes, including area police, firefighters and athletes, came together this week to make the holidays brighter for thousands of children.

Each holiday season, Meijer hosts “Shop with a Hero” events, which pair underprivileged children with area heroes to shop for holiday gifts for themselves and their families.

GRAND RAPIDS -- For the third consecutive year, Meijer is donating a portion of customer purchases made in the toy department, up to $500,000, to children's gift-giving programs throughout the Midwest.
