  • Peter Pan gets natural

    OMAHA, Neb. — Peter Pan is expanding its lineup of peanut butter spreads with new no-stir varieties.

    New Natural Creamy, Natural Crunchy and Natural Honey Roast creamy peanut butter spreads are made with 100% natural ingredients and contain no high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, trans fat or preservatives, the company said.

  • Huggies brings back jean diapers

    DALLAS — Huggies' limited-edition diaper product is returning to store shelves this summer.

    Huggies jeans diapers and wipes will be available nationwide from May through July at retail outlets where diapers are sold, parent company Kimberly-Clark announced. What's more, for every purchase of Huggies jeans diapers or wipes, the brand will donate diapers to families in need through its Every Little Bottom program. The goal is to donate 22.5 million diapers in 2011.

  • Report: Salma Hayek to launch makeup line at CVS

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Actress Salma Hayek is stepping into the mass-market beauty business with a new makeup line exclusively for CVS/pharmacy called Nuance, which is slated to hit store shelves in August, according to published reports.

    Hayek reportedly has been conceptualizing the initiative for a decade and took three years off from acting to create the collection, which ranges from makeup to hair care to skin care products. Products in the 100-SKU line are priced between $7.99 and $19.99.

    MADISON, Wis. — The Food and Drug Administration has granted orphan drug designation to a treatment made by Mithridion for a rare neurological disorder, Mithridion said Monday.

  • V23 introduces medication disposal solution

    BECKLEY, W.Va. — A West Virginia company has released a medication disposal product designed to allow environmentally safe disposal of unused medicines and render the medicines undesirable to potential drug abusers.

    V23, a subsidiary of Vaught, announced the launch of Element MDS. The product consists of a tamper-evident bottle into which unused drugs can be placed and then mixed with a special powder and tap water, which turn them into an undesirable, solid gelatinous substance.

  • IHOP brings breakfast to store shelves

    GLENDALE, Calif. — The International House of Pancakes has made its foray into retail.

    IHOP has taken its breakfast staples to the frozen food section with its IHOP at Home line, which includes omelet crispers, french toast stuffed pastries and the griddle n' sausage wrap.

    The new lineup of IHOP at Home items can be found at more than 3,000 Walmart locations nationwide and plans are in place to expand the line and distribution to additional retail and grocery outlets in the coming months.

  • Cypress launches generic Elestat

    MADISON, Miss. — Cypress Pharmaceuticals has launched a generic version of an eye care drug made by Boehringer Ingelheim and marketed by Allergan, the company said.

    Cypress announced the launch of epinastine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution 0.05%, a generic version of Elestat; BI owns the trademark to Elestat and licenses rights to the drug to Allergan. Elestat is used to relieve itching of the eyes resulting from allergic conjunctivitis.

  • Greenstone launches authorized generic of Aromasin

    PEAPACK, N.J. — Greenstone has introduced an authorized generic treatment for breast cancer, the generics subsidiary of Pfizer said.

    The company announced the launch of exemestane tablets, an authorized generic version of Pfizer’s Aromasin. Aromasin is used to treat early breast cancer in menopausal women who already have taken the drug tamoxifen for two to three years, as well as breast cancer in women whose disease has worsened while taking tamoxifen, which is widely available as a generic.
