  • Changing Channels: Home Depot sheds some light

    ATLANTA —National hardware chain The Home Depot is selling energy-efficient LED bulbs that are affordable and fit in a standard socket.

    The chain is selling the bulbs for $19.97 under the EcoSmart brand. By comparison, 60-watt and 100-watt LED bulbs sold for $90 and $360, respectively, just two years ago. The new bulbs, manufactured by Lighting Science Group, available online and will be available in all of Home Depot’s U.S. stores by the end of the month.

  • Bear-ing it all

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg’s Bear Naked brand, which includes premium granola, trail mix and granola bars, has entered the cookie category. The company has added Pure & Natural soft-baked granola cookies to its lineup of products.

    Available in two flavors—double chocolate and fruit and nut—the cookies are minimally processed and made without preservatives, artificial flavors and trans fats. The cookies offer 10 g of whole grains with no cholesterol, hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup.

  • Lunchables continues food evolution with new varieties

    MADISON, Wis. Lunchables is getting more wholesome with new varieties that aim to keep kids healthy.

    The line expansion includes the introduction of two new varieties: chicken strips made with 100% white meat chicken, and chicken and American sub sandwich, which features rotisserie seasoned chicken and bread made with 8 g of whole grain. Both products are good sources of protein and calcium and join the Lunchables-with-water roster introduced last year that offers quality meats, cheeses and spring water, the company said.

    RIDGEWOOD, N.J. A maker of deluxe e-reader covers has released a new version of its lighted folio.

    Periscope released its new pink lighted folio in line with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company said. Available for a suggested retail price of $49.95, the Periscope lighted folio is an “all-in-one” item that features a retractable Periscope twin LED reading light, deluxe cover and notebook/pen holder in one fashionably designed pink leatherette unit.

  • P&G expands Gain product line to reach Hispanic consumers

    CINCINNATI Gain is moving beyond the laundry room with two new products.

    As previously reported by Drug Store News, new Gain dishwashing liquid and an expanded Febreze with Gain collection now are available at stores nationwide. Gain dishwashing liquid is the first dish brand to be launched by Procter & Gamble in 37 years, the company said, while the Febreze with Gain original scent will include fabric refresher, Air Effects, candles and Noticeables.
