  • Yankee Candle introduces nine holiday fragrances

    SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — The Yankee Candle Co. has introduced a new line of holiday-themed scented candles, the company said Monday.

    The South Deerfield, Mass., announced the introduction of four new holiday-themed Yankee Candle fragrances and five Pure Radiance fragrances, also holiday-themed.

    The company said the fragrances are designed to evoke nostalgia for baking holiday cookies and celebrating with loved ones. The candles are available at Yankee's more than 500 stores, as well as gift shops and other retailers.

     

  • Unilever launches simpler butter-like spreads

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Unilever is launching two new butter-like spreads, the company said.

    The food, home and personal care supplier said it would debut I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! Deliciously Simple and Country Crock Simply Delicious at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, which is presented by Food & Wine magazine.

    The spreads are made with such simple ingredients as canola oil, nonfat yogurt, salt and natural flavors, with no artificial preserves or trans fat.

  • FDA approves new injector pen for Merck KGaA fertility drug

    DARMSTADT, Germany — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a pre-filled injector pen made by EMD Serono for infertile women, the company said Friday.

    The drug maker — the U.S. subsidiary of Germany's Merck Serono, so-called to distinguish it from U.S.-based Merck & Co. — announced the approval of Gonal-f RFF Redi-ject (follitropin alfa), a disposable pre-filled injector pen intended for injection under the skin of a liquid formulation of Gonal-f RFF. The pens will be available in the United States in December.

    CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble’s Oral-B has unveiled what it says is its most innovative power brush to date — the Oral-B Black 7000.

  • Nestle to feature new Butterfinger cups in Super Bowl ad

    NEW YORK — Nestle is planning to launch a cup version of its popular Butterfinger candy bar next year, the company said.

    The candy maker said it would introduce the Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups, calling it one of the company's biggest candy launches. In addition, for the first time it will feature one of its brands in a Super Bowl commercial.

  • Tetley launches Black & Green tea blend

    MONTVALE, N.J. — Tetley USA, the U.S. subsidiary of the U.K.-based tea company, released results of a survey of tea drinkers to coincide with the launch of its new Black & Green blend.

  • Prasco enters distribution deal with Shire for kidney disease drug

    CINCINNATI — Prasco Labs will distribute an authorized generic for reducing serum phosphate in patients with end-stage renal disease under a contract with Shire, Prasco said Thursday.

    The company, which focuses on authorized generic drugs, announced the deal for lanthanum carbonate chewable tablets in the 500-mg, 750-mg and 1,000-mg strengths. The drug is a version of Shire's Fosrenol. Authorized generics are branded drugs marketed under their generic names at a discounted price, usually through a third-party company under contract with the branded drug's manufacturer.

  • FDA approves Novo Nordisk's Novoeight for hemophilia A

    BAGSVÆRD, Denmark — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug made by Novo Nordisk for treating hemophilia A, the Danish drug maker said.

    Novo Nordisk announced the approval of Novoeight (turoctocog alfa), a recombinant coagulation factor VIII, for adults and children with hemophilia, a disease caused by factor VIII deficiency that results in uncontrollable bleeding.
