  • YoCrunch launches Yopa! Greek yogurt brand

    NAUGATUCK, Conn. — YoCrunch has introduced a new line of Greek yogurt, the company said.

    Yopa! is described as an authentic, strained Greek yogurt whose name is a portmanteau of "Yo" for "yogurt" and the traditional Greek cheer for joy, "opa!"

    The company has hired 2012 Olympic gold medalist and Associated Press female athlete of the year Gabby Douglas to promote the brand.

  • All American Pet Co. ships nutrition bars for dogs to Walmart

    LOS ANGELES — The All American Pet Co. said its new line of nutrition bars for dogs is on its way to Walmart.

    The company said Thursday that its three SKUs of NutraBars were on their way to "the world's largest retailer" for its first purchase order, though it didn't mention Walmart by name.

    "We can get the retailer, but we can't write the retailer's purchase order," AAPT CEO Barry Schwartz said. "We created the bar and have the capabilities to meet the demand."

  • Swisse Wellness launches supplement line at Walgreens

    NEW YORK — A line of OTC products from Australia will hit the shelves of Walgreens Friday.

    Swisse Wellness announced plans to roll out its line of multivitamins and other products in October 2012, hiring actress Nicole Kidman as the spokeswoman for the brand.

    An announcement on the company's website noted that the release would coincide with Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday as it touted its Ultivite multivitamins, Swisse Ultiboost Liver Detox and Swisse Ultivite + Energy.

  • Estrogen patch, described as smallest, available at pharmacies

    NEW YORK — A patch for treating menopause that the manufacturer calls the smallest is now available.

    Noven Pharmaceuticals announced the availability of Minivelle (estradiol) transdermal system in pharmacies. The patch, which the Food and Drug Administration approved in October 2012, is designed for treating hot flashes and night sweats in women with menopause.

    The patch has a surface area nearly the same as a dime at its lowest strength of 0.0375 mg-per-day and is 34% smaller than Noven's Vivelle-Dot patch, the company said.

    AUSTIN, Texas — AccAssociates, a developer of applications for both iPhone and Android, has created a new phone app, dubbed Tampon Minder, that keeps women informed and in control of their tampon placement.

  • FDA approves Genzyme drug for rare cholesterol disorder

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug for treating a rare cholesterol disorder, the agency said.

    The FDA announced the approval of Kynamro (mipomersen sodium), made by Genzyme for the treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, or HoFH. Kynamro has been approved as an orphan drug, a designation the FDA gives to drugs that treat diseases affecting fewer than 200,000 people.

    MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Peepers Reading Glasses on Monday launched an all-new line of designer sunglasses. The line is designed for both men and women and comprised of nearly 40 pieces with a variety of colors and 37 different styles. Suggested retail price ranges between $17 and $40.
