    Over the course of the entire year, 40% of individual fragrance sales take place during the holidays, while 80% of fragrance gift set sales occur during the holiday season, according to stats from the SymphonyIRI Group database cited by Coty.

  • FDA approves new indication for J&J prostate cancer drug

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new use for a cancer drug made by Johnson & Johnson, the agency said Monday.

    The FDA announced the approval of Zytiga (abiraterone acetate), made by J&J subsidiary Janssen Biotech, for men with castration-resistant prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, for use prior to receiving chemotherapy. The drug was already approved for castration-resistant prostate cancer in men who had already undergone chemotherapy treatment.

  • Albertsons to feature gluten-free pizzas from Better4U Foods

    DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — More than five-dozen Albertsons stores in the West will start selling gluten-free frozen pizzas this month.

    Better4U Foods said Friday that 63 stores in Albertsons' Intermountain West Division — which includes Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming — would stock the pizzas. Pizza varieties will include Gluten-Free Four Cheese, Gluten-Free Uncured Pepperoni and the vegan Dairy-Free Gluten-Free Roasted Vegetable.

  • Mylan launches generic hypertension drug

    PITTSBURGH — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic hypertension drug made by Mylan, the company said.

    Mylan announced the approval and launch of candesartan cilexetil and hydrochlorothiazide tablets in the 16/12.5-mg, 32/12.5-mg and 32/25-mg strengths. Mylan said it was the first company to submit a complete regulatory approval application for the drug and is thus entitled to 180 days of market exclusivity in which to compete directly with the branded version.

  • Atkins Nutritionals introduces Atkins Frozen Meals

    DENVER — Atkins Nutritionals has launched a line of low-carbohydrate frozen meals that will be available nationwide starting in January 2013, the company said.

    Atkins said Atkins Frozen Meals, which includes nine entrees, were developed with a focus on taste and ingredients such as vegetables, creams, sauces, and meats without any fillers or preservatives. Dishes include pot pies without the crust, turkey and green beans without stuffing, and egg scrambles without hash browns.
