  • Post Foods follows Greek yogurt craze with introduction of new Honey Bunches of Oats cereal

    PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Post Foods on Friday announced the addition of a new variety to the Honey Bunches of Oats family: Honey Bunches of Oats Greek Honey Crunch cereal.

    Available nationwide, the new cereal combines real Greek yogurt bunches, crispy whole grain flakes and honey. It is the first of the Honey Bunches of Oats line to include Greek yogurt.

  • Dr. Reddy's launches allergy drug

    HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy's Labs has launched a drug used for treating allergies, the generic drug maker said Friday.

    The Indian drug maker announced the launch of desloratadine orally disintegrating tablets in the 2.5-mg and 5-mg strengths. The drug is a generic version of Merck's Clarinex Reditabs and is available in unit-dose packages of 30.

    The branded version of the drug had sales of about $5.3 million during the 12-month period that ended in November 2012, according to IMS Health.

  • Merck: FDA approves Oxytrol for Women, creating overactive bladder category in OTC

    WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — Merck on Friday announced the Food and Drug Administration has approved the switch of Oxytrol for Women (oxybutynin transdermal system, 3.9 mg/day) from prescription-only to nonprescription, creating a new category — overactive bladder in women — in the OTC area. Most notable about this switch is the fact that the FDA approved Oxytrol for Women against the majority opinion of its Nonprescription Drug Advisory Committee, which voted five in favor and six opposed to the switch in November. 

  • Simply Orange Juice mixes up new blends

    APOPKA, Fla. —Simply Orange Juice announced three new additions to their lines of Simply Orange Juice and Simply Lemonade varieties: tangerine and banana under the Simply Orange Juice brand, and a blueberry variety from Simply Lemonade.

  • Perrigo, Ther-Rx announce availability of Gynazole-1

    ST. LOUIS — Perrigo and a subsidiary of K-V Pharmaceutical Co. have launched a new drug for yeast infections in women, the two companies said.

    Perrigo and Ther-Rx Corp. announced the availability of Gynazole-1 (butoconazole nitrate vaginal cream) in the 2% strength for treating yeast infections in nonpregnant women.

    Ther-Rx has a partnership with Perrigo to manufacture the drug.

  • Hero Nutritionals launches two sugar-free gummy vites for kids

    SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — Hero Nutritionals on Wednesday introduced two sugar-free vitamins to its Yummi Bears line that are naturally sweetened with lo han fruit and inulin fiber.

    “Overall the gummy vitamin category is up by 19% year over year, with the new sugar-free trend emerging," stated Claire Polson, national sales and marketing manager for Hero Nutritionals. “Additionally, the supplement alternative sweetener category grew by 10%, with the children’s multivitamin category driving it at 23% growth as compared to 2011.”

  • Kraft announces Mio Fit liquid water enhancer, Super Bowl commercial

    NEW YORK — Kraft Foods is adding to their line of flavored water enhancers with two flavors of Mio Fit, a portable liquid water enhancer with B vitamins and electrolytes, and has planned the brands first-ever Super Bowl spot to run during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVLII on Feb. 3.

  • ConAgra introduces new version of Pam cooking spray

    OMAHA, Neb. — A new version of ConAgra Foods' Pam cooking spray is designed to be calorie-free and leave less residue, the company said.

    The food company said that the new Pam leaves up to 99% less residue and is available in three varieties: original, baking and butter.
