  • Dr. Reddy's launches antibiotic products

    HYDERABAD, India — Drug maker Dr. Reddy's Labs has launched a generic antibiotic drug, the company said Thursday.

    The India-based company announced the launch of amoxicillin tablets, capsules and oral suspension. The tablets are being launched in the 500-mg and 875-mg strengths, while the capsules are in the 250-mg and 500-mg strengths, and the oral suspension is in the 125-mg-, 200-mg-, 250-mg- and 400-mg-per-5-mL strengths.

    NEW YORK — Stride gum is inviting teenage consumers to embrace their individuality with the launch of new ID gum.

    The core of the ID gum brand focuses on the teen experience, believing it's better to explore individuality by staying open-minded rather than define themselves with a single identity, parent company Kraft Foods said. The gum is packaged in a sleek, innovative folding pack that features a magnetic closure. Once unwrapped, the pack reveals original artwork sourced from young emerging artists from around the world (there are 18 designs in total).

  • P&G punches up Prilosec OTC offering with wildberry flavoring

    NEW YORK — Procter & Gamble this week will begin shipping a wildberry-flavored Prilosec OTC.

    The proton-pump inhibitor will not come in a chewable form, however, and will feature the message "Swallow — Do Not Chew" prominently on its packaging.

  • Just Born introduces new Peeps, Mike and Ike treats for Halloween

    BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Just Born has introduced new Halloween-themed candies under its Peeps and Mike and Ike brands.

    New Peeps snack size mini marshmallow chicks are 34 individually wrapped treats adorned in orange, green and purple. The new Mike and Ike Mummy's Mix limited-edition flavor mix, packaged in a 5-oz. theater box, includes lemon, orange, grape, lime and raspberry flavors. What's more, the new Mike and Ike variety bag features Mike and Ike original fruits, RedRageous! and Zours flavors, and is available in both 40-count and 63-count sizes.

  • FDA approves Acton asthma drug

    MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug made by Acton Pharmaceuticals for asthma, the company said Thursday.

    The drug maker announced the approval of Aerospan (flunisolide HFA) inhalation aerosol as a maintenance treatment for asthma in patients aged 6 and older. The drug maker plans to launch the drug in early 2013.

  • CalNaturale offers Svelte in smaller size

    LATHROP, Calif. — CalNaturale announced a new size for its Svelte on-the-go protein shake.

    The new 11.2-oz. size of the nondairy, gluten-free beverage initially is available in three flavors — chocolate, french vanilla and cappuccino — and mirrors its 15.9-oz. counterpart in design and availability in recyclable Tetra-Pak containers. The 11-oz. Svelte has 180 calories while still delivering 5 g of fiber, 11 g of protein from a fresh, organic soymilk base, and only 6g of sugar.
