Designed to be more sustainable than a traditional razor, the two new launches use materials that contain recycled, recyclable or renewable materials in their product and packaging, the company said.

The razors also fall in line with Edgewell Personal Care’s sustainability efforts, which are making an effort to reduce virgin petroleum-based plastic materials by 50% in its disposable razor handle offerings by 2030.

“We are excited to launch these hybrid razors made with renewable bamboo, which will give our consumers more options for sustainable products at shelf,” said Amy Knight, vice president of global sustainability at Edgewell. “These new razors are a great example of how we are innovating and expanding our product offerings in the market, embedding sustainability into our product and packaging design and bringing even more joy to consumers. Our Sustainable Care 2030 strategy outlines aggressive goals not only in our usage of sustainable materials, but also around ingredients, social impact and more, and I'm proud that our brands continue to innovate and move this strategy forward.”

Featuring a slim and sleek handle made from bamboo, a renewable source, Schick Xtreme Men’s and Schick Intuition Women’s Bamboo Hybrid Razors are three times stronger than wood and deliver on performance while being good for the environment, the company said.

Other features include three flexible blades made with 75% recycled steel and recyclable and sustainably sourced packaging sold in kits with one handle for every three cartridges, which can result in less overall waste versus a traditional disposable razor.

Retailing for $5.99, Schick Xtreme Men’s Bamboo Hybrid Razors are available at Target.com and Schick.com.
