    SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Chief merchant and CFO of H-E-B, Martin Otto, officially handed over the National Association of Drug Stores chairman gavel to Co-chief operating officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance and president of Walgreens Alex Gourlay during the NACDS Tuesday morning General Session II.

    The National Association of Chain Drug Stores on Monday elected new officers, one new executive committee member and two new board of directors members for the coming year, including Alex Gourlay, co-COO of Walgreens Boots Alliance and president of Walgreens, who will serve as the new chairman of the NACDS board of directors. Gourlay succeeds Martin Otto, chief merchant and CFO of H-E-B, who completed his term.

  • Baxter CEO joins Walgreens Boots Alliance’s board of directors

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — José (Joe) E. Almeida, chairman of the board and CEO of Baxter International, has been elected to Walgreens Boots Alliance’s board of directors, effective immediately. Almeida, who joins the board as an independent director, becomes the board’s 11th member.

  • Walgreens, ECRM partner on Supplier Diversity Summit

    DEERFIELD, Ill. and SOLON, Ohio — ECRM on Thursday announced that it would be teaming up with Walgreens Boots Alliance on a one-day Supplier Diversity Summit. The summit will be held on July 19 in Chicago, when the retailer’s category managers will meet with diverse-owned suppliers in the health-and-wellness, beauty and personal care, competitive convenience and OTC/advanced care categories.

    The event is part of Walgreens’ efforts to partner with and promote diverse and small business suppliers to grow their enterprises.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Beginning April 25, Walgreens Healthcare Clinic locations in 18 markets will offer testing services for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, Hepatitis B and C, chlamydia and gonorrhea.
