  • Albertsons taps IRI for supply chain services

    CHICAGO —  IRI announced Tuesday that it will begin providing supply chain services to Albertsons, the second largest grocery chain in the United States, in addition to being its preferred partner for point-of-sale data, consumer panel insights and strategic growth initiatives to support joint business collaboration.

  • Jewel-Osco launches online ordering for pickup, delivery

    ITASCA, Ill. — Albertsons’ Jewel-Osco banner is bringing a new service to its Chicago customers. The chain will roll e-commerce through its website on out on Nov. 7, allowing customers to shop online for groceries that they can pick up or have delivered.

    “This gives people another option when shopping for groceries,” Jewel-Osco president Doug Cygan said. “The Jewel-Osco e-commerce department allows for the company to come full circle as we began delivering tea in 1899.”

  • Albertsons rolls out Apple Pay to all its banners

    BOISE, Idaho — All of Albertsons’ banner stores are now equipped to let customers pay for their purchases with Apple Pay. The mobile payment solution has been available at Albertsons’ Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Star Market, Haggen and United banners, and rolled out Monday to Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls and Carrs locations.

  • Seasoned Albertsons vet takes the helm at Safeway division

    WASHINGTON — Jim Perkins, Albertsons EVP retail operations and special projects and president of its Acme stores divsion, has assumed command of the Safeway Eastern division as well, according to a report in the Washington Business Journal earlier this week.

    Former Safeway president Dan Valenzuela "left the company to pursue other opportunities," the Journal reported.

  • Albertsons to match donations helping communities impacted by wildfires

    PLEASANTON, Calif. — The Albertsons Companies Foundation announced Wednesday an in-store fundraiser to help people and communities affected by the California wildfires. Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Albertsons stores in California and Northern Nevada are raising money to help disaster relief organizations including the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from these fires.

    The Albertsons Companies Foundation will match customer donations up to $500,000.

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons last week named Guy Burgstahler VP advertising.

  • Albertsons named Corporate Citizenship Award finalist

    WASHINGTON — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation earlier this week named 24 finalists for the 2017 Corporate Citizenship Awards, including Albertsons as part of the "Disaster Relief and Outreach Initiative" category. Mastercard and The Walt Disney Company were also named finalists in that category
