  • Aunt Nellie's introduces baby whole pickled beets

    MARION, N.Y. — Seneca Foods has bolstered its Aunt Nellie's brand by launching a new pickled beets item.

    Seneca Foods VP Bruce Wolcott said Aunt Nellie's new baby whole pickled beets "merges the continued popularity of beets with the small bites trend."

    Aunt Nellie's baby whole pickled beets now are available at stores nationwide.

  • NCR exits DVD rental biz through Redbox deal

    OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — Automated retail kiosks operator Redbox has agreed to purchase assets from NCR's entertainment line of business, including DVD kiosks, certain retailer contracts and DVD inventory.

    NCR, which will be paid up to $100 million for the assets by the Coinstar subsidiary, said the business move is part of an effort to focus on other targeted industries.

    In line with the assets purchase, Coinstar said it will also will enter into a strategic supplier arrangement where it will purchase product and services from NCR.

  • Hot Pockets, Lean Pockets business move to Nestle HQ

    SOLON, Ohio — Nestle USA said its prepared foods division is relocated the Hot Pockets and Lean Pockets frozen sandwich and snacks business team from Englewood, Colo., to the company's headquarters in Solon, Ohio.

    In Solon, the Hot Pockets and Lean Pockets business, which was acquired from Chef America in 2002, will such food brands as Stouffer's, Lead Cuisine frozen meals; Buitoni refrigerated pastas and sauces; Nestle Toll House baking ingredients and refrigerated cookie dough; Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin and the Nestle Carnation milks.

  • Pacific Natural Foods adds organic bisques to lineup

    TUALATIN, Ore. — Pacific Natural Foods' ready-to-eat soups line has expanded to include four organic bisques.

    Pacific said its portfolio now features organic hearty tomato bisque, organic roasted red pepper and tomato bisque, organic cashew carrot ginger bisque and organic butternut squash bisque. The company said each gluten- and soy-free bisque features chunks of vegetables. The cashew carrot ginger bisque also is dairy free.

    The new line carries a suggested retail price range of $3.29 to $3.49 for 17.6-oz. container.

  • El Monterey mini tacos line makes its way to stores

    DINUBA, Calif. — Ruiz Foods has added a new snack bag line to its El Monterey brand.

    The El Monterey portfolio, which features such Mexican food favorites as quesadillas, taquitos and more, now includes mini tacos, which are available in chicken and cheddar cheese, and beef and cheddar cheese varieties.
