  • Haagen-Dazs savors flavor experience

    OAKLAND, Calif. — As the weather heats up, new one-of-a-kind creations from Haagen-Dazs have made their way to the frozen food aisle.

    Haagen-Dazs' lineup includes new flavors of ice cream, sundae cones, frozen yogurt, sorbet and cups. The company said the new offerings were inspired by flavor experiences, such as a slice of holiday pie, a trip to India and more.

    Haagen-Dazs' newest ice cream flavors, which include caramel apple pie, blueberry crumble, cranberry pumpkin spice, sweet chai latte and spiced peach crumble, retail for $4.69 per 14-oz. carton.

  • Kellogg's donates additional funds to disaster relief efforts

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg's has committed an additional $250,000 to disaster relief efforts in the Midwest and South, the company said.

    The funds, which were donated from Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund to the American Red Cross, build on the company's donation of $400,000 cash and its product commitment to hunger relief charity Feeding America to benefit disaster victims.

    CAMDEN, N.J. — Campbell Soup on Tuesday announced the company is expanding its V8 franchise into the fast-growing energy drink category with two new products: V8 V-Fusion + Energy drinks and V8 Energy Shots.

    Sales of energy shots reached $173.9 million across food, drug and mass (minus Walmart) for the 52 weeks ended April 17, representing growth of 43.5% compared with the prior year, according to SymphonyIRI Group data.

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — Mountain Dew has relaunched three classic flavors nationwide.

    For those consumers that love to "do the Dew," Mountain Dew Pitch Black, Mountain Dew Supernova and Mountain Dew Typhoon will be available for a limited time as part of the brand's Back by Popular Dewmand campaign.

  • Molson Coors shuffles board executives

    DENVER, Colo. — Molson Coors' Andrew Molson and Pete Coors have switched roles.

    The brewing company said that Molson, the company's current vice chairman, has assumed the role of chairman, while Coors, its current chairman, has stepped in as vice chairman. The planned transition is consistent with the company's by-laws, which allow the chairman and vice chairman to alternate between the Molson and Coors families every two years.

  • Lilly executive joins Chiquita's board

    CINCINNATI — An Eli Lilly executive was elected to Chiquita's board of directors at the company's annual shareholders meeting.

    Chiquita said that Jeffrey Simmons, who serves as Lilly SVP and president of the drug maker's animal health division, Elanco Animal Health, brings more than 20 years of management experience to his new role on the audit committee and the food innovation, safety and technology committee.

    SEVERN, N.C. — Hampton Farms is offering fans of in-shell peanuts a new snack.

    New Hickory SmokeHouse-flavored in-shell peanuts unite the taste of dry roasted peanuts with a "straight from the smokehouse" taste, the company said.

    Available in 10-oz. packages, Hickory SmokeHouse peanuts will be available at such supermarkets as Food Lion, Giant, Kroger, Publix, Ralphs, Stop & Shop and Wegmans for a suggested retail price of $1.99.

    DENVER, Colo. — Suncore Products said that its new cookie brand touts 20 essential vitamins and minerals, as well as dietary fiber.

    WhoNu? cookies, which are available in soft and chewy chocolate chip, crispy chocolate chip, chocolate sandwich creme and vanilla sandwich creme varieties, claim to deliver 3 g of fiber and 20% or more of the daily allowance of calcium; vitamins A, B12, C, D and E; and iron in each three-cookie serving.
