  • CandyRific puts 'twist' on Mike and Ike

    NEW YORK — CandyRific is boosting Mike and Ike candy offerings with new items.

  • Coca-Cola's PlantBottle packaging for Dasani, Odwalla debuts

    ATLANTA — Coca-Cola's 100% recyclable beverage packages have premiered on store shelves.

    The company's Dasani and Odwalla brands' single-serving bottles now will feature PlantBottle packaging, which is touted as the first-ever fully recyclable plastic beverage bottle produced using plants.

    Coca-Cola said that in 2010, more than 2.5 billion PlantBottle packages were available across nine countries. For 2011, that number is expected to double to more than 5 billion PlantBottle packages in more than 15 countries.

  • Mercy touts hangover prevention beverage

    NEW YORK — A new functional beverage that promises to help curb hangovers is hitting the market.

    Mercy said its namesake beverage is a 60-calorie drink that's formulated with amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins, which is designed to replenish the body with key nutrients and prevent such hangover symptoms as headaches and nausea from occurring, according to the company.

  • IdeaVillage names COO

    WAYNE, N.J. — A company that specializes in "As Seen on TV" products has named a new COO.

    Ron Boger, who currently serves as EVP of IdeaVillage, will take on the COO role. He will work with company founder Anand Khubani in launching new and innovative products in the mass market.

    Boger is credited with bringing such products as SlimShots, Yoshi ceramic knife, Fushigi ball and Criss Angel MindFreak magic kits and tricks under the IdeaVillage banner and into the mass market.

  • Fuze reformulates beverages

    WHITESTONE, N.Y. — Prepare for a juice drink experience that "fuses" fruity flavors and nutritional ingredients.

    Fuze said that each of its 12 flavors tout vitamins A, C and E, and also contain distinctive fruit flavors and an added nutrient commonly associated with those fruits.

  • Hershey products receive price boost

    HERSHEY, Pa. — Expect to see Hershey products carrying a higher price tag.

    In an effort to offset input costs, the chocolate giant said it would implement a weighted average price increase of about 9.7% across its instant consumable, multipack, packaged candy and grocery lines.

  • Dr Pepper supports 'Thor' film release

    PLANO, Texas — Dr Pepper is celebrating the premiere of "Thor" by sponsoring the film through various promotions.

    The company said it is supporting the film by featuring "Thor" characters on limited-edition cans of Dr Pepper, and also will feature the superhero's creator, Stan Lee, in the soft drink's TV spots.

  • Peter Henry nominated to join Kraft's board

    NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kraft Foods said its board of directors has nominated Peter Henry as its newest member.

    Henry, an international economist, is dean of New York University's Stern School of Business.
