  • Fulton Innovation unveils eCoupled

    LAS VEGAS — A company that develops wireless power technology is bringing that technology to consumer packaging.

    At the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Fulton Innovation unveiled eCoupled intelligent wireless power, demonstrating it in a number of applications, including an electric car.

  • MAP, Allergan to co-promote Levadex

    IRVINE, Calif. — Anticipating regulatory approval, MAP Pharmaceuticals and Allergan will collaborate to promote a drug for treating acute migraine to physicians.

    The two companies announced the collaboration Monday for Levadex (dihydroergotamine), an inhaled drug. Phase-3 trials for the drug are finished, and MAP plans to submit an approval application for the drug to the Food and Drug Administration in the first half of this year.

  • American Greetings launches Opening Acts for Valentine's Day

    CLEVELAND — Highlighting lovable pairs this Valentine's Day, American Greetings has introduced Opening Acts.

    Opening Acts is a collection that pairs cards with specially designed envelopes that play a song or sound when opened, offering consumers a fun and unexpected way to show the ones they love how much they care.

    American Greetings' Opening Acts line is available at stores nationwide.

  • Report: Private-label beer arrives at Walgreens

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — A Novato, Calif.-based corporate brand beer supplier has launched a private-label beer for Walgreens, according to published reports.

    Winery Exchange is the producer behind Big Flats 1901, a lager brewed by Genesee Brewing Co., based in Rochester, N.Y. Big Flats 1901 sells for around 50 cents per can at most Walgreens stores, according to reports.

    Winery Exchange's retail partners include Supervalu, Kroger, Costco, Delhaize and more.

  • Mylan looks to market generic Lidoderm

    CHADDS FORD, Pa. — Mylan has announced its intention to market a version of a painkiller made by Endo Pharmaceuticals and partner company Teikoku Seiyaku ahead of patent expiration.

    Endo said Monday that Teikoku Seiyaku and U.S. subsidiary Teikoku Pharma USA had received a Paragraph IV certification from Mylan stating the latter’s intention to market a generic lidocaine topical patch. The drug is a generic version of Endo’s and Teikoku’s Lidoderm.

  • Welmedix’s First Degree taps into burn cream market

    LUTHERVILLE, Md. — Welmedix’s First Degree therapeutic burn cream, pictured here, provides a unique solution for minor burns that the company suggests is an unmet need at retail.

    Sold almost exclusively through Walgreens for the past year, the burn cream is beginning to expand distribution through such grocers as Pathmark and Food City, as well as regional pharmacy operators Kinney Drugs and Kerr Drug.

     

  • NFL star 'axes' hair

    NEW YORK — Unilever's Axe brand is working with the NFL's St. Louis quarterback, Sam Bradford, to promote the launch of its new Axe Hair Buzzed Look cream + SPF 15.

    To promote the launch, Bradford, the NFL's 2010 No. 1 overall draft pick and Rookie of the Year candidate, took his hair style from shaggy to a short buzz, courtesy of Axe Hair.

  • Mylan's generic Sular gets FDA OK

    PITTSBURGH — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic hypertension treatment made by Mylan.

    Mylan announced the approval Friday of nisoldipine extended-release tablets in the 8.5-mg, 17-mg, 25.5-mg and 34-mg strengths. The drug is a generic version of Shionogi Pharma’s Sular, which had sales of about $103 million during the 12-month period ended in September 2010, according to IMS Health.
