  • Jones Soda, The Onion create co-branded sodas

    SEATTLE — Jones Soda and The Onion have teamed up to bring consumers a co-branded line of limited-edition sodas.

    The companies created a collection of six 12-oz. glass bottles — which will retail for $12.99 — that each boasts a black-and-white newsprint-inspired label with a signature Onion headline and accompanying image. The collection includes Jones' popular green apple, root beer and strawberry-lime flavors.

  • Genentech appeals FDA's plan to pull Avastin off market

    NEW YORK — Drug maker Genentech is hoping to keep a breast cancer treatment on the market as the Food and Drug Administration considers whether to revoke its approval for the disease, according to published reports.

    The San Francisco Business Times reported Tuesday that Genentech, part of Swiss drug maker Roche, is appealing the FDA’s plan to revoke approval for the drug Avastin (bevacizumab) as a first-line treatment for advanced HER2-negative breast cancer in combination with paclitaxel chemotherapy.

  • Samuel Adams introduces Revolutionary Rye

    BOSTON — Samuel Adams is expanding its beer lineup with new Revolutionary Rye.

    An American-style rye ale, the new beer is a deep, reddish-hued ale, brewed with both rye and roasted malt for a spicy character, the company said.

    Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye now is available as part of the new Samuel Adams American Originals variety pack for a suggested retail price of $13.99 to $15.99 per 12-pack.

  • Peter Rabbit Organics introduces veg and fruit purees

    LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. — Peter Rabbit Organics’ line of squeezable puree pouches is expanding with the addition of new vegetable and fruit blends.

    The new veggie and fruit purees — now available in sweet potato, corn and apple; pea, spinach and apple; and carrot, squash and apple varieties — come in BPA-free pouches and contain 100% organic vegetables and fruits, with no added sugar or artificial flavors.

  • New puzzles from Ravensburger 'highlight' fun for kids

    NEWTON, N.H. — Gearing up for the 2011 Toy Fair, Ravensburger announced that it is releasing four new Highlights-branded puzzles this year.

    Each puzzle is inspired by the popular children's magazine and encourages children to find items in the completed scene.

    The 2011 offerings include:

    • The 60-piece Highlights Hidden Pictures "Fun in the Classroom" puzzle is presented in a special yellow school bus tin for easy cleanup and portability, and retails for $14.99;

  • SoftSheen-Carson expands Dark and Lovely brand, taps new spokeswoman

    NEW YORK — Ethnic hair care brand SoftSheen-Carson, which is part of L’Oréal USA, is launching for the mass market in February its new Dark and Lovely Healthy-Gloss 5 relaxer and hair care system, which is positioned as the first hair care system to preserve and restore all five signs of healthy hair: moisture, shine, strength, softness and body.

  • Indie Candy makes Valentine's Day treats

    MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala.— A gourmet candy maker has unveiled its 2011 lineup for Valentine's Day.

    Indie Candy said that all of its products are free of artificial flavors and preservatives, and many of them also are free of dyes, gluten, casein/dairy and nuts.

    The lineup includes gourmet heart gummies, dairy-free chocolate heart lollipops and hard-candy heart lollipops.
