  • Teva announces availability of moxifloxacin hydrochloride tablets

    NORTH WALES, Pa. — Teva Pharmaceuticals announced the introduction of moxifloxacin hydrochloride tablets, the generic equivalent to Avelox tablets. The drug is available in 400-mg strength.

    Moxifloxacin hydrochloride is used to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria, the company said.

  • American Licorice announces new fruit candies

    LA PORTE, Ind. — American Licorice Co. has announced the launch of Fruit Vines Bites — bite-size, chewy candies with a fruit flavor.

    "We wanted to develop a soft, chewy, fruity candy that would appeal to candy lovers everywhere," said Stephanie Louie, Red Vines brand manager. "The bite size pieces are perfect for a quick treat to help everyone bring a sweet celebration to their day."  

  • Kremers Urban launches rabeprazole sodium tablets

    PRINCETON, N.J. — Kremers Urban Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of UCB, announced the launch of rabeprazole sodium delayed-release tablets. The drug is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease in adults and adolescents, according to the FDA.

    The product is the bioequivalent to Aciphex from Eisai. Kremers Urban rabeprazole sodium delayed-release tablets are available in 20-mg strength in both 30- and 90-count bottles.

  • WSJ: Pills of the future to replace injection as specialty drug delivery mechanism

    NEW YORK — The Food and Drug Administration recently approved two "robotic pills," or pills that place an image camera or ingestible sensors into the gastrointestinal tract, according to a report published earlier this week by the Wall Street Journal

    Other robotic pills still in development include one backed by Google — a pill that would replace injectable drugs, the report noted. 

  • FLAVORx donates flavoring systems to pharmacy schools

    COLUMBIA, Md. — FLAVORx, a supplier of custom flavoring systems, announced that it will partner with more than 150 pharmacy schools and pharmacy technician programs to bring flavoring to classrooms and labs.

    Faculty members that are currently using FLAVORx systems are pleased with the results, the company said.

  • Nexxus, Molly Sims partner to launch hair color collection

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Actress and model Molly Sims has partnered with Unilever’s Nexxus to promote the launch of its new Assure color care collection.

    The collection features a Pre-Wash Primer, the brand’s first-ever pre-treatment, that shields hair against color fade before it's a problem.

  • Doritos snack gets fiery flavor

    PLANO, TX — Doritos, a brand from PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division, announced an addition to its Dinamita rolled tortilla chip line. The new Doritos Dinamita Fiery Habanero chips feature spicy habanero peppers and hints of chili and red peppers, all in a rolled tortilla chip.

    The new rolled tortilla chips are now available at retailers in select locations throughout the United States and come in three sizes: a 1.125-oz. bag for a SRP of $0.50, a 4-oz. bag for a SRP of $1.49, and a 9.25-oz. bag for a SRP of $2.99.

  • The Fergie CenterStage Collection by Wet n Wild expands

    LOS ANGELES — Wet n Wild and global beauty ambassador Fergie have unveiled the next evolution of the Fergie CenterStage Collection by Wet n Wild.

    Hitting Walgreens stores during February, the 23 additions to the existing line range from longwearing eyeliners, volume mascara, longwearing shimmer primer, all-in-one BB Creams, complexion perfecting mattifying powder and high-shine lip varnishes.
