  • Product innovation pushes depilatories toward growth

    Depilatories continue to enjoy strong growth, thanks in large part to product innovation and new entrants to the segment.

    According to data from SymphonyIRI Group, a Chicago-based market research firm, sales of depilatories rose about 13% for the 12 weeks ended Oct. 7 at total U.S. multi-outlets, which covers supermarkets, drug stores, mass-market retailers (including Walmart), military commissaries, and select club and dollar retail chains.

  • Dr. Reddy's launches PAH drug

    HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy's Labs has launched a generic drug for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension, the company said.

    Dr. Reddy's announced the launch of sildenafil tablets in the 20 mg strength in 90-count bottles. The drug is a generic version of Pfizer's Revatio.

    Revatio had sales of $338.67 million during the 12-month period ended in September, according to IMS Health.

    With some 40 million to 50 million people in the United States battling acne, it is no surprise that sales of acne treatments continue to be on the rise.

  • GNC product partner and AquaHydrate board member Mark Wahlberg heralds new sports drink distribution

    LOS ANGELES — In the wake of a summer rebranding campaign aimed at active, health-conscious consumers, AquaHydrate on Thursday announced expansion of its distribution through GNC. 

    The AquaHydrate line offers consumers "Supercharged Hydration," a combination of key electrolytes and alkalinity that helps restore balance to the body. While many sports and vitamin drinks hover around a 4 pH (relatively acidic) and most bottled water between 7 and 7.5 (pH neutral), AquaHydrate stands at a pH value of more than 9 (relatively alkaline).
