  • Blistex launches two new lip balms as cold front advances through Northeast

    OAK BROOK, Ill. — Blistex on Thursday announced the launch of Moisture Melt and Simple and Sensitive lip balms. Moisture Melt features suspended soft beads of aloe and shea butter, while Blistex Simple and Sensitive contains six essential ingredients to provide moisturization without irritation from added dyes or fragrances. 

  • Personalization drives category

    With more people working from home, the office products category continues to expand. For the past year, sales of office supplies were up 4%, according to NPD analyst Lora Morsovillo, driven by sales of writing implements, mailing and shipping supplies, and office essentials, including paper clips and 
rubber bands.


    Morsovillo said the trend toward personalization is evident in the category, creating more demand for products like coordinated pens 
and folders.

     

     

  • Shipments of generic version of Bontril PDM begins

    NORTHVALE, N.J. — Initial shipment of a generic appetite suppressant has started, the drug's manufacturer said Thursday.

    Elite Pharmaceuticals announced the initial shipment of phendimetrazine tartrate tablets in the 35-mg strength, a generic version of Valeant's Bontril PDM, under a manufacturing and supply agreement with Mikah Pharma. Actavis, recently acquired by Watson Pharmaceuticals, will distribute the drug as part of a distribution agreement between Mikah and Actavis.

  • NCR Corp., SoloHealth sign three-year health kiosk maintenance contract

    DULUTH, Ga. — NCR Corp. is partnering with health kiosk maker SoloHealth to service interactive consumer healthcare kiosks at retailers as SoloHealth rolls them out around the country, the two companies said Tuesday.

    NCR's services group has signed a three-year contract with SoloHealth to provide on-site repairs after the units are installed in what the companies expect to be more than 2,500 retail locations by the middle of 2013.

  • Limited edition Newcastle Winter IPA heads to retailer shelves

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Newcastle on Wednesday announced the first nationwide release of its limited edition beer, Newcastle Winter IPA. The Winter IPA will be on retail shelves and on draught in on-premise locations now through January 2013.

    New Castle IPA features a copper color with a strong hop aroma, subtle caramel notes, a full body and a balanced finish, as is characteristic of traditional British-style IPAs.

  • MediSafe Project launches cloud-synced medication-reminder app

    HAIFA, Israel — MediSafe Project has launched what it called the first cloud-synced mobile app to help prevent emergencies caused by over- or under-dosing medications.

    The app, which is available for Android devices and compatible with iPhones and iPads, is designed to remind users when it's time to take medications and also send alerts to family members, friends and caretakers.

    LOS ANGELES — Quest Nutrition on Tuesday launched Quest Cravings Peanut Butter Cups, a high-protein chocolate candy with 20 g of protein per serving. 

    The peanut butter cups are made with non-Dutch processed 100% chocolate rich in amino acids, containing no soy, trans fats or sugar. Suggested retail price is $27.99 for a box of 12 packages, with two cups per package.

    In September, Quest Nutrition introduced the Cravings line exclusively to Facebook fans.
