Sparked by consumer demand for more versatility, flexibility, durability and overall performance from their flashlights and lanterns, Light Fusion Technology lights transmit light throughout slim acrylic panels manufactured through a laser-etching process. The result is clean, uniform light and a more compact form for easier packing and carrying, Energizer said.

    NEW YORK — Ethnic hair care brand SoftSheen-Carson has developed a new smoothing revolution with its Dark and Lovely 6 Week Anti-Reversion cream serum. The serum is positioned as the first styling product formulated to address the needs of relaxer consumers who want to maintain the straight and silky look of just-relaxed hair in between relaxing. It features humidity block technology to help keep hair smooth up to six weeks in between relaxing. The product began hitting stores in July and has a suggested retail price of $8.99.

  • Anti-aging floods market

    The slew of new facial anti-aging products hitting the mass market shows little signs of slowing — despite the lackluster category sales — as manufacturers feverishly work to stay on the cutting edge of innovation and bank on consumers’ undying desire to turn back the hands of time.


    According to SymphonyIRI Group data, sales of facial anti-aging products slipped 0.8% to just shy of $800 million at food, drug and mass (excluding Walmart) for the 52 weeks ended July 8.


  • Stone cold pain relief

    NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Johnson & Johnson Consumer earlier this summer put the freeze on pain with the launch of its Bengay Zero Degrees line extension, an external analgesic rub that makes its home alongside the frozen peas in the freezer. According to the company, it’s the first and only topical pain reliever that can be stored in the freezer. Sales of the Bengay brand were up 6.4% to $8.9 million for the 12 weeks ended July 8 across food, drug and mass (excluding Walmart), according to SymphonyIRI Group data.

  • Ranbaxy launches authorized generic diabetes drug

    PRINCETON, N.J. — Ranbaxy Labs has launched an authorized generic version of a diabetes drug made by Takeda Pharmaceutical, Ranbaxy said Friday.

    Ranbaxy announced the launch, through subsidiary Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals and under an agreement with Takeda, of pioglitazone hydrochloride tablets, an authorized generic version of Takeda's Actos. An authorized generic is a branded drug marketed at a reduced price under its generic name, typically by a third-party company operating under contract with the original branded drug's manufacturer.
