Pure Leaf rolls out lower sugar iced teas

Pure Leaf Iced Tea is adding not one but three new beverages with lower sugar.

The Lower Sugar iced tea line, which contains no artificial flavors or sweeteners, is available in subtly sweet black tea, subtly sweet peach and subtly sweet lemon flavors, the company said.

“We know that many of our Pure leaf consumers want lower sugar alternatives that don't sacrifice on taste,” said Julie Raheja-Perera, general manager, North America, Pepsi Lipton Partnership. “With the help of our expert tea masters, we’re excited to broaden our Pure Leaf iced tea portfolio with three refreshing lower sugar iced teas that give consumers what they are looking for. We know people will love the new Pure Leaf Lower Sugar line as it delivers on subtly sweet taste and reduced sugar content.”

To celebrate the launch of this new line, the Purchase, N.Y.-based company is debuting a campaign that features a reimagined version of Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” into a new version titled “Pour Lower Sugar for Me.”

In addition, the brand is working with several TikTok creators to use the newly created song in their own videos that also encourage their followers and other users on the platform to try the brand’s newest launch.

Pure Leaf Lower Sugar contains tea leaves that are sustainably sourced and collected from Rainforest Alliance Certified tea estates in either India, Kenya, Indonesia or Sri Lanka, the company said.

Each 18.5-fl.-oz. bottle of Pure Leaf Iced Tea Lower Sugar contains 20 calories, 5 g of added real sugar and retails for $2.09 in the beverage aisle at major retailers nationwide. The beverages also come in packs of six and a 64-oz. multi-serve bottle.
