  • Walmart Foundation appoints new president

    The Walmart Foundation has appointed Kathleen McLaughlin as its president, effective Oct. 15. In addition to leading corporate giving, she will have responsibility for the company's global sustainability, women's economic empowerment initiatives and healthier food initiatives.

    McLaughlin, previously a senior partner at global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, is a dual American-Canadian citizen and was based in Toronto.

    SAN FRANCISCO — Pharmacy veteran Chris Dimos has joined McKesson as SVP corporate strategy and business development, reporting to Brian Tyler, McKesson EVP corporate strategy and business development, DSN has learned. Also joining McKesson is Melanie Nallicheri as SVP McKesson Distribution Solutions. Nallicheri will similarly report to Tyler.

  • Kroger names Steve McKinney president of Fry's Food stores

    CINCINNATI — The Kroger Co. has promoted Steve McKinney to president of the Fry's Food Stores division. Fry's operates 119 food stores in Arizona.

    McKinney, 57, has been VP of operations at the company's Ralphs division since 2007. He succeeds Jon Flora, who passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago.

    CINCINNATI — The Kroger Co. on Friday announced its inaugural listing on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index-North America.

    The Dow Jones Sustainability Index-North America tracks the economic, environmental and social sustainability performance of the top 20% of the 600 largest North America-based companies in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index.

  • Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada recipient of flu shot donation from Walgreens

    LAS VEGAS — Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada on Tuesday announced receipt of a donation of flu vaccines compliments of Walgreens. 

    “Although the need for compassionate health care is present all year-round, VMSN sees an exceptional need for patient assistance during flu season,” stated VMSN founder Florence Jameson. “Walgreens’ kind gesture is a phenomenal example of our community coming together to create a healthy and flourishing Nevada.”

    ST. LOUIS — The former president of Giant Food of Landover, Md., has joined Schnuck Markets as EVP and chief strategy officer, Schnucks said Thursday.
