DEERFIELD, Ill. — As part of American Pharmacists Month throughout October, Walgreens is recognizing its more than 27,000 pharmacists for their dedication to patient care, and the growing and important role they continue to play in health care today.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Healthcare organizations AmerisourceBergen, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Pfizer and Prime Therapeutics on Tuesday joined Walgreens to combat the national opioid abuse crisis by expanding the availability of safe medication disposal kiosks to an additional 900 Walgreens stores near military bases and other areas where the opioid epidemic has challenged communities.

When the expansion is complete, kiosks will be available in approximately 1,500 Walgreens stores nationwide.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Walgreens has committed to a $250,000 donation to American Red Cross Hurricane Maria relief efforts, the retailer announced Monday. In addition, Walgreens customers can also donate to Red Cross hurricane relief efforts at approximately 8,000 Walgreens and Duane Reade locations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Customers can make donations at store checkout.

Crawford, prior to serving as a retail and healthcare adviser and consultant for New York City-based Sycamore Partners, enjoyed a long career with Walgreens, most recently as EVP and president of pharmacy health and wellness.

ARMONK, N.Y.  — IBM on Friday announced a new agreement with Walgreens to deploy IBM retail analytics at more than 8,100 locations nationwide to help improve the efficiency of field service support for these locations.

NEW YORK — Walgreens on Wednesday launched its new campaign “#ItEndsWithUs” to educate teens nationwide on the opioid epidemic. The campaign will be unveiled by actor Brandon Larracuente from Netflix’s popular series “13 Reasons Why” and “Bloodline.”

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens Boots Alliance announced Tuesday that it has secured regulatory clearance for an amended and restated asset purchase agreement to purchase 1,932 stores, three distribution centers and related inventory from Rite Aid for $4.38 billion in cash and other consideration.
