Better Natured is shining a light on its newest findings, which showcase the power of hair coloring among women in the United States.

To hone in on how women tend to color their hair to boost their mood, the brand is declaring the first day of spring as National Hair Color Day, which also correlates with its launch at Sally Beauty stores nationwide and online.

“It’s always been the goal of Better Natured to make sure we are creating products that use naturally-derived ingredients that don’t sacrifice performance. Being able to provide professional quality hair color and care that gives you salon results at home is so important to us,” said Jennifer Lauroesch, marketing director for hair color, Zotos Professional at Henkel. “That’s why we are thrilled to be launching at Sally Beauty. Sally Beauty has always been known as a hair color destination for the beauty professionals and having our products on their shelves will make it easier for the 90% of women surveyed who dye their hair at-home to access our products.”

Back in February, Better Natured conducted a poll, which found that boosting confidence and mood is the leading motivator for 53% of respondents who use hair color. Almost half of women, about 65%, who use hair color for gray coverage also shared that they are concerned with how long the process takes overall.

Eighty-six percent of those surveyed shared that those who use at-home color do so not just to cover their grays but also to save money as cost plays a vital role in hair care purchases, the brand shared.

When it comes to ingredients, nearly 50% of those surveyed are open to trying vegan hair care products. In addition, vibrancy and how hair feels after coloring also are key factors in why women color their hair and what colors they choose.

Lastly, 38% of those who call themselves blonde admit to being extroverted, and 44% state that they are sporty, while those with silver or ash blond hair are most likely to consider themselves confident.

Brown is the most common color among women—both natural and dyed. About 51% of dyed blondes and 58% of dyed redheads are natural brunettes. Fifty-seven percent of those with freshly dyed red hair consider themselves to be confident and self-assured, the brand shared in its survey findings.

“We’re excited to bring Better Natured’s hair color and hair care collection to Sally Beauty to increase our cleaner product offerings with more naturally derived ingredients,” said Maryann Herskowitz group vice president of merchandising at Sally Beauty. “This aligns closely with our mission to offer accessible, professional quality products to inspire a more color, confident, and welcoming world.”

To spread the word and bridge the gap between those who color their hair at home and at the salon, Better Natured is partnering with Silvia Reis, a master colorist and content creator to help provide inspiration and color demos.

Better Natured’s popular line of Liqui-Creme Hair Color is available in 26 shades and now available for purchase at Sally Beauty.
