Brands channel star power for Super Bowl LVII ad spots

Aside from being the biggest night in the NFL, the Super Bowl is known for the major star power that comes along with ad spots debuting during the game. 

This year was no exception, with such stars as Jenna Ortega, Danny Ramirez, Ice Spice and Sir Anthony Hopkins appearing in a variety of commercials. 

We’ve gathered up the most buzz-worthy spots in the game below. 

Stōk Cold Brew calls on Sir Anthony Hopkins for Wrexham AFC hype

Stōk Cold Brew, the official stadium sponsor of Wrexham AFC, which is owned by actors Ryan Reynold and Rob McElhenney, brought is bringing major hype to the world of soccer—or football as its known in other countries minus the United States. 

To celebrate the Welsh football team’s ambition, the commercial features Sir Anthony Hopkins unleashing his inner dragon to hype up the Wrexham AFC fans as their team mascot. 

Doritos Dinamita introduces Dina and Mita alongside Jenna Ortega, Danny Ramirez

Doritos introduced fans to Dina and Mita, a duo of unlikely heroes whose love for the brand’s new Dinamita snacks helps propel them through any obstacle that stands in their way. 

Featuring actress Jenna Ortega, who alongside Dina and Mita, searches for their favorite Dinamita chips, when the last bag is snatched up by Danny Ramirez. The duo then embark on a quest to get their hands on the snacks.

Starry mascots win over Ice Spice’s heart

Starry, the new soda launch from PepsiCo, made its debut during the big game with a campaign focused on showing fans why it’s time to see other sodas and break up with the current selection of lemon-lime offerings. 

Featuring Grammy-nominated hip hop star Ice Spice, the spot features brand mascots Lem and Lime winning over the musician after her last relationship fizzled out, leaving her ex-lemon lime behind. 

Silk showcases a nutrition-forward message with Jeremy Renner

Silk took on the big game with a commercial aimed at showing viewers how its products can make them feel good. 

The spot features actor Jeremy Renner, alongside his daughter Ava, demonstrating how the brand’s products can help both parties have a “planty” good start to their day.

Oreo embraces twist of fate with Kris Jenner cameo

Oreo’s televised spot puts a twist on historical moments by showcasing how the twist of one of its cookies can turn making decisions into a fun activity. 

Featuring a playful reality based on the Oreo cookie-eating experience, the spot took viewers to a time where a twist can decide such things as whether the Trojan Horse enters the city of Troy, if aliens visited Earth and a trip back to the mid-2000s with Kris Jenner. 

Hellmann’s saves leftovers with Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson

Hellmann’s spotlighted how its iconic mayonnaise  can turn leftover food into a delicious dish. 

Starring actress and comedian Kate McKinnon, the Mayo Cat and a cameo by Pete Davidson, the commercial takes a humorous twist on the world of instant celebrity and also encourages consumers to get creative in the kitchen by helping fight food waste. 

Chris Pratt becomes Pringles’ Mr. P

Pringles called on actor Chris Pratt for an ad spot highlighting its mascot, “the Pringles” guy or Mr. P as he’s known in the commercial.

The video shows what happens when Pratt notices a similarity between himself and Mr. P, and then is offered the role of Mr. P in a film. The spot showcases how the character is truly everywhere. 

M&M’s highlights “almost champions” with Scarlett Johansson

M&M’s used the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong with a commercial featuring three NFL legends—Dan Marino, Terrell Owens and Bruce Smith—alongside actress Scarlett Johansson. 

The spot brings the famous faces together to humbly relate how each finished as the runner-up in their perspective career’s big awards moments.
