  • Meow Mix Tender Centers cat food makes debut

    SAN FRANCISCO — Meow Mix has introduced a new line of cat food that combines the flavors of meat and fish.

    Meow Mix Tender Centers are dual-textured kibbles that have a crunchy outside and a meaty center, and are available in tuna and white fish flavors, and salmon and white meat chicken flavors. The launch of the product also marks the return of the Meow Mix jingle, which stopped airing 16 years ago.

    Fancy Feast is giving some lucky cats the first taste of its new Yellowfin Tuna & Shrimp Recipe with Wild Rice in Gravy months before it hits the shelf.

    The cat food brand is giving away 17,500 free samples, while supplies last, of the new entrée — inspired by Joan Spector’s winning entry in the 2011 Fancy Feast TasteMakers contest — starting March 13 at noon on Fancy Feast’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/FancyFeast.

  • Health trend expected to aid growth in ethnic food

    Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods showed the biggest gains in the last three years in the ethnic food category. Sales of ethnic food products grew in food, drug and mass outlets by 3.5% in 2011, reaching nearly $3 billion by year’s end, according to a recent report from Mintel. That rate is the slowest measured in the past five years, according to Mintel.

  • New iPad cases arrive from Case-Mate

    ATLANTA — Case-Mate has introduced a new line of iPad cases.

    The lineup includes seven new cases that boast modern and fashionable styles with a range of fresh colors, striking prints and bold textures. The cases will range in price from $40 to $90.

    "Case-Mate continues to outfit the hottest tablets on the market with eye-catching and stylish cases for all occasions," Case-Mate CEO Shashi Reddy said. "High design and functionality is coupled with protection to create these on-trend cases that complement the new iPad."

  • Pasta Prima introduces new product

    BENICIA, Calif. — Pasta Prima has introduced a superfood ravioli.

    The 100% natural pasta is a blend of kale and spinach complemented by five gourmet cheeses, including parmesan, romano, asiago, mozzarella and ricotta, and also is a good source of calcium and vitamins A, C and K, the company said.

    Pasta Prima's ravioli products are priced from $3.99 to $5.29 at retail (for 8-oz., larger size available) and $9.99 to $12.99 at club stores.

  • Hiball Energy shifts from glass bottles to Ball aluminum cans

    BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Hiball Energy said its line of reformulated sparkling energy waters and organic energy drinks now are packaged in cold-activated, lightweight 16-oz. aluminum cans developed by Ball.

    The new can package features "cold activation" graphics using thermochromic ink by Chromatic Technologies. When cans reach a temperature of 45 degrees F, the bubbles on the can graphics turn from white to blue — indicating that the beverage inside is at the optimal temperature for drinking.

    DALLAS — The National Diaper Bank Network and Kimberly-Clark's Huggies brand have pledged to donate 1 million diapers to the American Red Cross to support the organization's disaster relief efforts in the South and Midwest.
