  • 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' arriving on Blu-ray, DVD this spring

    HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The latest edition of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise is making its Blu-ray and DVD debut on April 17 from Paramount Home Media Distribution.

    "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" will be available in a limited-edition three-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, which includes more than two hours of special features. The film also will be available as a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and as a single-disc DVD.

  • 'Shame' arrives on Blu-ray combo pack in April

    LOS ANGELES — 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Fox Searchlight are bringing one of the most talked about films of 2011 to retail.

    "Shame," directed by Steve McQueen and starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan, will arrive on Blu-ray combo pack. The combo pack features a high definition Blu-ray that includes special features — including a behind-the-scenes look at McQueen’s groundbreaking vision with exclusive extras and featurettes — a DVD version of the film and digital copy.

  • TV goods show promise

    The economy doesn’t seem to be hurting the As Seen On TV category. A.J. Khubani, CEO of Telebrands, said the company’s business is ahead 20% in 2011 over the previous year, and fourth-quarter sales were up 30%.

    “One major drug chain told us that as a nonpharmacy revenue producer, the category is second only to the OTC cold and flu category,” Khubani said. That’s why chain drug retailers continue to devote more space to the category — and not just in the most profitable fourth quarter.

  • Flat sales float category

    Sales of hot and cold breakfast cereals have been flat. “Consumers are faced with many breakfast options each day,” said David Browne, senior analyst at Mintel International Group. “While most do eat breakfast, it may mean a cereal/snack bar, yogurt, eggs, toast/bagels, baked goods or fast food restaurant options.” The popularity of egg-based breakfast sandwiches, particularly those available at fast food outlets, has surged. Consumers increasingly are buying breakfast outside the home.

  • Pereira & O'Dell named Henkel's agency of record

    SAN FRANCISCO — The maker of Purex, Renuzit and Soft Scrub has retained a new agency of record.

    Henkel announced it will work with Pereira & O'Dell's creative and strategy departments to develop TV, print, out-of-home and digital assets including social and mobile efforts.

  • Snapple combines tea, lemonade in new diet beverage

    PLANO, Texas — Snapple is combining two of its staple beverages into one with the official debut of Diet Half ‘n Half Lemonade Iced Tea.

    “Some combinations are too perfect to pass up,” Snapple VP marketing Regan Ebert said. “Snapple is always looking to make the Best Stuff even better and the new Diet Half ‘n Half offers our fans a tasty, low-calorie combination of two classic flavors that is sure to please, whichever side you’re rooting for.”

    NORTH HILLS, Calif. — A designer and manufacturer of infant and toddler products has introduced a new collection of spill-proof cups.

    Munchkin said its Click Lock cups are BPA-free and utilize tactile, visual and audio cues to confirm the cup's lid is properly locked in place. The cups also are available in a variety of designs, colors and styles, including trainer, sippy, straw, flip straw and big kid cups.
