  • Floam, Gak make a comeback

    NEW YORK — 1990s playtime staples Floam and Gak are making their return to store shelves.

    NSI International and Nickelodeon said both of the items have been reformulated with new manufacturing technologies and include new ingredients, and are phthalate-, latex- and BPA-free. Nickelodeon Floam is a texturized molding compound, while Nickelodeon Gak is stretchy and squishy collectible goo.

    NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kraft’s new MilkBite milk and granola bars address the “better-for-you” snack segment by combining real milk, whole grain granola and other tasty ingredients in one convenient treat. One bar provides 30% of the daily recommended value of calcium — the same delivered in an 8-oz. glass of milk. The bars also are a good source of vitamin D and fiber.


  • Dum Dums adds new flavors

    BRYAN, Ohio — Spangler Candy has expanded its Dum Dums lollipops brand to include two new flavors.

    Fruit punch and dulce de leche were chosen through online flavor voting at Dumdumpops.com and extensive research from the Dum Dums flavor laboratory, the company said. The fruit punch flavor, Spangler Candy said, was temporarily retired from the line in 2002.

    With these additions, Dum Dums now are available in 17 flavors, including the company's Mystery flavor.

  • 'Fortune' names Spartan Stores to most admired list

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Fortune magazine has named supermarket operator Spartan Stores as one of its most admired companies for 2012.

    Spartan announced Friday that Fortune had added it to the list of the "World's Most Admired Companies" in the wholesaler: food and grocery category. Spartan owns 96 supermarkets in Michigan and operates a distribution business that serves 375 other stores in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

    ORRVILLE, Ohio — J. M. Smucker has announced several executive changes, including the appointment of a new corporate officer.

    J. M. Smucker said that its VP advertising and creative services, Tamara Fynan, has been promoted to corporate officer and VP marketing services.

  • 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment bring 'Grapes of Wrath,' 'Zorba the Greek' to Blu-ray

    LOS ANGELES — Two critically acclaimed films are making their Blu-ray debut on June 5.

    "The Grapes of Wrath," starring Henry Fonda, and "Zorba the Greek," starring Anthony Quinn, will arrive on Blu-ray from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment for the first time.

    Both films were nominated for and won Academy Awards, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment noted.

  • Hellmann's, Frank's RedHot team up for limited-edition mayonnaise

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Hellmann's and Frank's RedHot have expanded their limited-edition line of mayonnaise.

    New Hellmann's Spicy Buffalo with Frank's RedHot is a reduced-fat mayonnaise that combines the creaminess of Hellmann's mixed with Frank's authentic Buffalo flavor, the brands said. It now is available in 9 oz. squeeze bottles at Walmart, Target and select grocery retailers.
