Klar & Co, Sundae Body, IONI Cosmetics win ECRM Beauty Buyers’ Choice Awards
Klar & Co won the Drug Store News Buyers’ Choice Award for its Melting Hyaluronic Mask during ECRM’s Everyday and Holiday Cosmetics, Skin, Fragrance & Bath Session held last month in Chicago.
Sundae Body was a finalist for its Birthday Cake Whipped Shower Foam. IONI Cosmetics won the award for Best Room at the Session.
Both products were selected from dozens of entries submitted by participating suppliers and displayed in the hospitality area of the session. Attending buyers evaluated each entry and cast their votes based on product packaging and innovation. For the Best Room award, buyers cast votes on their favorite meeting room setup. (This was the second time IONI Cosmetics won the award—the first was at ECRM’s Skin Care, Bath, Cosmetics, Natural and Clean Beauty Session held in Indian Wells, Calif. last year.)

Klar & Co is a vertically integrated beauty supplier focused on bringing the best of Korean Beauty to Western markets internationally. The company aims to manufacture these products at the same high quality but in more elevated, eye-catching, educational and larger size packaging, with bigger fills, more tailored key ingredients and benefits - all at substantially lower cost. It offers more than 600 high volume SKUs, 40+ owned brand labels, and has millions of units of stock locally at any given time.
Its Biodance Magic Melting Masks go on the face white, and a few hours later melt into the face and leave skin looking like radiant "glass.” They are similar to K beauty products that went viral on social media, but the cost is too high for many consumers, the packaging basic and unclear on the product and its benefits, and there was limited distribution at retail, according to Klar & Co.
Klar & Co developed two versions of this product:
The "Dupe" version: For those who are familiar with the products that went viral, this version has elements of that look but is designed to be much more visual, appealing and explanatory.
- The "Inspired by" version: Looks nothing like the viral hit and is designed for the unfamiliar customer who may or may not have heard of the concept but will very likely see this and instantly understand and appreciate it.
