  • FDA gives tentative approval to Cipla combo pill for HIV

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has given tentative approval to a new drug for HIV made by an Indian company.

    FDA records show that the agency gave tentative approval tablets and oral suspension that combine lamivudine, nevirapine and zidovudine in the 30-mg/50-mg/60-mg strength.

  • Shopping guide to made-in-USA products released

    LOS ANGELES — With the holiday shopping season approaching, one group has released a guide to goods produced domestically.

    The Made in USA Foundation announced the latest edition of the "All-American Holiday Gift Guide," which shows readers how to buy American-made Christmas and Hannukah gifts, ornaments and cards, with sections on toys, jewelry, games and other items for men, women and children. Co-published with Made in USA Certified, the 115-page guide also includes food-related items, such as chocolates, blenders and stoves.

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has launched “Made Easy,” a new and expanded selection of fresh prepared salads and vegetables, which includes 39 varieties of bag salads and kits, micro-steamers, and sliced and diced vegetables.

    ANAHEIM, Calif. — Jondo-USA, a maker of personalized photo and decor products, is making it easy for consumers to create and order framed prints from their smartphone and digital camera photos with the new Snapbox framed prints.

    SnapBox products will be available for pick-up and pay at 12,000 retail locations, including Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs, with free shipping to those locations.

  • FDA approves generic Lupin contraceptive

    MUMBAI, India — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic contraceptive made by Indian drug maker Lupin, the company said Thursday.

    Lupin announced the approval of Kurvelo (levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) tablets in the 0.15 mg/0.03 mg strength.

    The drug is a generic version of Teva's branded Nordette. Nordette had sales of about $59 million during the 12-month period ended in June, according to IMS Health.
