  • Nestlé releases nutrition, health, wellness 2011 scorecard

    NEW YORK — Nestlé on Tuesday released a scorecard on the company's progress in the areas of nutrition, health and wellness in the United States over the course of 2011.

    "[In] the past year, Nestlé has introduced and expanded new NHW initiatives, announced several partnerships with leading industry organizations and launched multiple campaigns to increase nutrition awareness and help combat epidemic rates of obesity," the company stated.

  • O-I names SVP, chief commercial officer

    PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Glass packaging maker Owens-Illinois has appointed a new SVP and chief commercial officer, O-I said Tuesday.

    Tony Gardner, who will lead O-I's global sales, marketing, pricing and product innovation initiatives, brings more than 20 years of business leadership experience to O-I. Prior to his new position, Gardner worked at Accenture for five years, where he worked with many of the world's largest consumer packaged goods companies and their suppliers.

  • Active Health Foods introduces Active X Plus energy bars

    RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Active Health Foods has introduces a new line of energy bars fortified with B vitamins.

    Active X Plus energy bars are fortified with vitamins B6 and B12, which "[play] essential roles in red blood cell metabolism, fat and protein metabolism, nervous system function and the synthesis of nucleic acids."

    The bars are an extension of its Active X energy bars line, which debuted at retail in November.

  • Barnie's CoffeeKitchen brings line to Fla.-based Walmart stores

    ORLANDO, Fla. — Barnie's Coffee & Tea Co. is bringing its Barnie's CoffeeKitchen line to Florida-area Walmart stores.

    The company said the lineup will include 12 of the brand's bestselling coffees. What's more, the coffee flavors are classified by mood states (i.e., comforting, intriguing or robust), rather than roast level or growing region.

    The suggested retail price is $8.78 for a 12-oz. bag.

    Procter & Gamble announced Tuesday that Gain would be partnering with comedienne and actress Wanda Sykes, who will join Gain’s resident “Scenthropologist” Tim Hittle in promoting Gain’s 13 detergents and fabric softener scents.

    NEW YORK — A new home fragrance system has hit the market.

    New Aircraft Infused ScentSticks, which are made from natural, biodegradable fibers from sustainable resources, allows consumers to create more than 1,000 unique fragrance combinations from a palette of 12 scents, making its a truly customized air freshener, the company said.

    Aircraft Infused ScentSticks launch in January 2012 at retailers nationwide, including Bed, Bath and Beyond.
