  • Dollar General event looks to expand its supplier base

    The retailer will hold its Innovation and Supplier Diversity Summit in April, which is designed to pair potential vendors with respective buyers and category managers from the chain.
  • Dollar General to build new distribution center in Texas

    Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based, Dollar General has announced plans to build its 17th facility in its major distribution network. The company previously built its first center in San Antonio, Texas back in 2014 and celebrated the opening of a second location also within Texas in 2016.

    In addition to opening this new location, the company also is looking to create 400 new jobs when at full capacity and serve 1,000 retail locations within Texas and the southeast. The structure itself is expected to be nearly 1,000,000 square feet, the company said.

  • Dollar General announces store growth plans, remodeling efforts

    The discounter will execute approximately 2,000 real estate projects in fiscal 2018. The emphasis will be on remodeling. Dollar General plans to open 900 new stores (compared to an estimated 1,285 new units in fiscal 2017), remodel 1,000 existing sites and relocate 100 stores (compared to 760 combined remodels and relocations this year).

  • Dollar General tackles Big 12 sponsorship

    GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General on Wednesday partnered with the Big 12 Conference and ESPN Events to serve as the Official Discount Retail Sponsor for the Big 12 Conference for the 2017-2018 academic year. Additionally, the major discount retailer will serve as the Conference’s Official Homegating and Tailgating Headquarters and exclusive sponsor of the Dollar General Big 12 Championship Tour, which plans to host events at each of the 10 Big 12 Conference collegiate campuses during the 2017 fall football season.

  • Daelmans stroopwafels get Dollar General distribution

    NEW YORK — Stroopwafel maker Daelmans, in conjunction with the Brand Passport, is expanding its distribution. The company and its U.S. importing, distributing and brand management partner will be bringing stroopwafels to Dollar General stores.

    The store will be stocking Daelmans stroopwafel's caramel jumbo duo offering in the snack aisle of roughly 13,600 stores, and the chocolate-caramel duo at the check out of 8,000 stores.
