L'Oréal Paris is introducing the world to Colorsonic—a first-of-its-kind hair color device with more than 29 patents.

Designed for all hair types, lengths and textures, the device automatically mixes dye and developer in a ratio that delivers long-lasting color results.

Colorsonic works similarly to brushing one’s hair by parting and saturating every hair strand by distributing color evenly, including in such hard to reach areas as the back of the head. Featuring a bristle that moves 300 times per minute, the device allows users to adjust the speed to deposit the ideal amount of formula, the company said.

Alongside the device comes L'Oréal Paris’ multi-usage hair color cartridge that offers up to three applications per cartridge that comes in 20 shades that are free of ammonia, silicones, parabens, SLS, SLES and phthalates.

“What has remained consistent since L’Oréal invented permanent hair color more than 100 years ago is our dedication to high-performance, research-backed innovation for superior performance,” said Ali Goldstein, president of L’Oréal Paris USA. “Colorsonic is a true gamechanger for the category, bringing cutting-edge technology to hair color, and is a testament to L'Oréal Paris’ unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality results in the comfort of your own home.”

The Colorsonic website is offering educational resources, including a shade quiz, step-by-step video tutorials, articles and colorists on call to assist with any questions.

Colorsonic retails for $124.99 and the cartridges retail for $29.99 each at select Target stores.
