  • FDA approves Lupin depression, anxiety drug

    BALTIMORE — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic psychiatric drug made by Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Lupin said Thursday.

    The Indian drug maker announced the approval of escitalopram tablets in the 5-mg, 10-mg and 20-mg strengths, used for acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents and for acute treatment of general anxiety disorder in adults.

  • Prestige Brands introduces new Luden's, Chloraseptic items for cough-cold season

    IRVINGTON, N.Y. — Prestige Brands is sprucing up its portfolio with new Luden's and Chloraseptic products.

    Luden's has introduced new Moisture Drops, which are designed to soothe the dryness and discomfort associated with dry mouths, while easing everyday throat irritations. The lozenge works with a unique "HydroAction" formula and is available in a kiwi-strawberry flavored lozenge. The new Luden's Moisture Drops are available in a 20-count bag at a suggested retail price of $1.79.

  • FDA approves new MS drug

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug for multiple sclerosis.

    Sanofi subsidiary Genzyme announced that the FDA had approved Aubagio (teriflunomide) as a once-daily, oral treatment for patients with relapsing MS.

  • SoloHealth brings together veteran executive team in preparation for national kiosk launch

     ATLANTA — SoloHealth on Wednesday named Tim Kiss to serve as VP marketing — a new position at SoloHealth — as the company prepares for its nationwide rollout of the SoloHealth Station consumer kiosk this fall. SoloHealth also named Dan Bonert to VP advertising sales, promoted Eric Hoell to VP operations and promoted Stephen Kendig to EVP and chief commercial officer.

  • Zulka premieres new packaging

    LOS ANGELES — Zulka pure cane sugar has debuted a new look.

    The company said its all-natural and unrefined granulated "morena" sugar now is packaged in a clear bag that features an updated, modernized logo and a new equivalency icon that illustrates how Zulka is a perfect cup-for-cup replacement for refined white sugar.

    EL PASO, Texas — Helen of Troy recently introduced Body Innovations, a new line of home massage products. 

    The new line includes the BIMA7502 personal mini massager in assorted colors. This massager features three interchangeable attachments. There also is the BIMA7503 personal mini massager, which features variable massage speeds and is waterproof. Both personal massagers are available at Walgreens at a suggested retail price of $16.99.
