    SECAUCUS, N.J. — Panasonic has expanded its growing portfolio of beauty products with the launch of three new products: a heated eyelash curler, precision body shaver and facial hair trimmer.

    The newest products join Panasonic's current beauty product portfolio, which includes facial steamers, pore cleansers and bikini trimmers.

  • FDA approves ingestible sensor for medication adherence monitoring

    REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Big Doctor is watching you — to make sure you're taking your drugs as prescribed, that is.

    It's not dystopian, but it sure sounds like the stuff of science fiction: The Food and Drug Administration approved Monday a tiny, ingestible sensor that can be integrated into drugs to monitor patients' prescription drug adherence.

    MINNEAPOLIS — Yoplait is going back to basics with its latest yogurt.

    Yoplait Simplait yogurt is crafted from a combination of six ingredients, including cultured pasteurized grade A milk, fruit, sugar, corn starch, natural flavor and a vegetable or fruit juice or extract or pectin.

  • Plackers introduces floss for tight teeth, sensitive gums

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Disposable dental flosser maker Plackers has expanded its porfolio with the launch of its new GentleSlide flossers.
     
    Featuring a shred-resistant polytetrafluoroethylene floss technology, GentleSlide is designed to make flossing between tight teeth easy and comfortable, and is gentle on sensitive gums. People with tight teeth and sensitive gums often forgo flossing altogether because of the discomfort. The floss has a cool mint flavoring.
     

  • FDA approves Watson asthma generic

    PARSIPPANY, N.J. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug designed to treat asthma in children.

    Watson Pharmaceuticals announced Wednesday the approval of budesonide inhalation suspension in the 0.25-mg/2-mL and 0.5-mg/2-mL strengths. The drug is used to control and prevent asthma symptoms in children ages 12 months to 8 years.

    The drug is a generic version of AstraZeneca's Pulmicort Respules, which had sales of $1.1 billion during the 12-month period ended in May.

  • QS/1 finishes 2012 Customer Conference

    ORLANDO, Fla. — Customers, vendors and industry analysts were among the more than 300 people who took part in seminars to showcase pharmacy technology maker QS/1's line of software products for independent and small-chain pharmacies and home medical equipment providers.

    Calling its 2012 Customer Conference a "success," QS/1 said its next conference would take place in Asheville, N.C., in May 2013 rather than July 2013.

  • Popchips makes foray into tortilla chips category

    SAN FRANCISCO — Popchips has expanded its portfolio with a new line of popped tortilla chips.

    The brand, which launched in 2007, said its latest line features such flavors as nacho cheese, ranch, salsa and chili limon. The tortilla chips will be available at retailers beginning this month.
