  • Post acquires PowerBar, Musashi brands from Nestlé

    ST. LOUIS — Post Holdings on Monday announced it has agreed to acquire the PowerBar and Musashi brands and related worldwide assets from Nestlé S.A.

  • Nielsen Holdings to complete Harris Interactive merger

    NEW YORK — Nielsen Holdings on Monday announced that it has completed the tender offer by Nielsen and its wholly owned subsidiary, Prime Acquisition Corp., to acquire all outstanding shares of common stock of Harris Interactive, a global market research firm. Nielsen expects to complete the acquisition of Harris through a merger under Delaware law. Upon the completion of the merger, Harris Interactive will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Nielsen and its shares will cease to be traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market.

  • NAD refers Brain Research Labs to FTC

    NEW YORK — The National Advertising Division has referred to the Federal Trade Commission advertising claims made by Brain Research Labs, for Procera AVH, following the company’s failure to abide by the terms of an NAD decision.

    In an underlying 2009 decision, NAD recommended that the advertiser discontinue a wide range of claims and testimonials for Procera AVH, including the unqualified claim that Procera AVH was “clinically shown to restore the memory and brain power you had 10-15 years ago" and claims that the product is “fast-acting.”

  • GoJo Industries acquires Laboratoires Prodene Klint

    AKRON, Ohio — GoJo Industries on Friday announced the acquisition of Laboratoires Prodene Klint. Based in France, Prodene Klint specializes in professional hygiene, cosmetics and disinfectant products.  

    Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

  • Global survey: Consumers will spend more for products befitting a healthier lifestyle

    ZURICH — Bain & Co. released findings Thursday from an online survey of 1,200 people living in New York, Munich and New Delhi that found most would readily trade premium medical care for access to healthier living options, such as more nutritious food, health education, exercise and innovative healthcare technologies.

    DUBLIN — Actavis on Friday announced a realignment of its global strategic business structure to maximize the company's newly strengthened position as a leading specialty pharmaceutical developer, manufacturer and marketer, and to enhance Actavis' position for continued long-term growth. 

  • Hy-Vee to offer flu, strep tests as part of study

    NEW YORK — Hy-Vee has teamed up with the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy and Ferris State University to offer rapid-diagnostic flu and strep tests in its pharmacies.

    Hy-Vee stores in Omaha and Papillion are among 60 sites throughout three states that will have pharmacists trained to administer these tests, the results of which are available shortly after the test is given. In addition to the testing, pharmacists also will be able to fill prescriptions to treat identified illnesses, if needed, under protocol set by prescribing physicians.

  • Novartis Consumer Health's return to shelf on track, Theraflu relaunching next

    BASEL, Switzerland — Novartis Consumer Health will be relaunching Theraflu for the 2014-2015 cough-cold season, Brian McNamara, Novartis division head OTC, told analysts Wednesday. 

    "As you know, in the U.S. business we launched Lamisil and Triaminic and Excedrin end of 2012 and 2013. About halfway through the year, we launched Benefiber. And for next year, we expect to launch Theraflu for that cough and cold season," he said.
