    ALBANY, N.Y. — Customers who recycle bottles and cans with deposit values at Greenback Redemption Centers in Hannaford supermarkets in New York state will have the option of donating the money to local charities.

    PITTSBURGH — GNC last week launched a nationwide campaign for customers to enter their own personal health-and-wellness success stories in the "Me on GNC" photo and video contest. The competition offers $100,000 in prizes for the best photo and video submissions, with the help of the GNC online community.

    WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Monday named six new members, including Aurora Algae, Nature’s Sources, Reckitt Benckiser, Sirio Pharma, Watson and international member JJ Health.    

    British conglomerate Reckitt Benckiser recently acquired Schiff Nutrition, marking the entry of a new major CPG player into the dietary supplement space. Reckitt Benckiser now markets several supplement brands including Digestive Advantage, MegaRed and Schiff Move Free. 

  • Boehringer-Ingelheim helps sponsor Walgreens team for St. Louis colon cancer run

    ST. LOUIS — More than 90 runners signed on to join Team Walgreens/Team Tori last month at the 2013 St. Louis Undy 5000 in support of 24-year old Tori Riley. The team raised more than $1,000 in support, half contributed to the Colon Cancer Alliance and the other half to Team Tori, through T-shirt sales, raffles for Walgreens beauty bags and silent auctions that included St. Louis Cardinals tickets, among other items.

  • Medical community commends court ruling to make Plan B One-Step available as OTC to women under 17

    WASHINGTON — The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine Friday morning commended a U.S. District Court ruling that expands over-the-counter access of Plan B One-Step to women under the age of 17. "This decision reflects the overwhelming evidence that emergency contraception is safe and effective for all women of reproductive age," the medical associations stated as part of a joint statement. 

  • Advil Relief in Action to support both Habitat for Humanity and Wounded Warrior Project

    MADISON, N.J. — Pfizer Consumer Healthcare on Thursday launched its Advil Relief in Action campaign in support of both Habitat for Humanity and Wounded Warrior Project.

    Beginning May 1, a portion of the price of participating Advil bottles will go to Habitat for Humanity International and Wounded Warrior Project. The Advil Relief in Action program will also be on-site at Habitat for Humanity builds and in conjunction with Wounded Warrior Project at Tough Mudder events.
