  • Hansen Natural unveils corporate name

    CORONA, Calif. — The company behind Hansen's natural sodas and Monster energy drinks has a new corporate name.

    With approval from its stockholders, Hansen Natural announced it has changed its name to Monster Beverage Corp. and will begin trading under a new stock ticker symbol, "MNST," effective Monday.

    In addition to its Hansen's and Monster brands, the company also owns Junior Juice, Blue Sky, Peace Tea, energy shots brand Worx Energy, vitamin-enhanced water brand Vidration, Hubert's lemonades and Pre probiotic drinks.

    NEW YORK — The Global Market Development Center earlier this week announced the association will be "flip-flopping" its two annual marketing conferences with the Health Beauty Wellness event moving to a spring time frame and General Merchandise event moving to a fall time frame, beginning in 2013.

  • Report: Kodak to file for Chapter 11

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rumors are swirling that Kodak moments may be no more.

    According to published reports, the more-than-one-century-old company is looking to seek bankruptcy protection. The Wall Street Journal reported that could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this month or in early February and that Kodak was scrambling to sell some of its patents, though a Kodak spokesperson told the publication that "does not comment on market rumor or speculation."

    ORRVILLE, Ohio — Dairy Enterprises has expanded its Ruggles brand to include a new frozen yogurt line.

    New Ruggles low-fat Greek frozen yogurt is available in original tart, vanilla bean, peach, honey, blueberry and strawberry flavors.

  • Kraft Foods teams up with SodaStream

    NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kraft Foods and beverage carbonation systems manufacturer SodaStream have formed a strategic partnership.

    As part of the deal, SodaStream and Kraft Foods will manufacture, market, distribute and sell Kraft Foods branded flavors for use with the SodaStream soda making system. The initial Kraft Foods brands to participate will be several varieties of Crystal Light and Country Time, a lemonade brand.

    ATLANTA — Paper Mate has globally launched a new line of writing instruments.

    Looking to offer consumers advanced writing performance at an affordable price, InkJoy features ultra-low viscosity ink and proprietary ink delivery system to provide "an unparalleled, effortless writing experience," Paper Mate said. InkJoy is available in 100, 300 and 700 series: the 100 and 300 series are available in 10 bright, modern ink colors, while the 700 series is available in black, blue and red ink colors.

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — In line with National Weigh-in Day on Jan. 2, Special K announced it is offering tracking tools, peer inspiration and motivation on its website, SpecialK.com, to help women achieve their weight-loss goals in 2012.

    How it works: Users can customize their weight-loss plans with their lifestyles by selecting their meal plan and activity level. Afterwards, users then are given a personalized Special K plan that is unique to their needs and goals. Women easily can track their progress online via their mobile device, Special K said.

  • Sara Lee acquires Tea Forté

    UTRECHT, Netherlands — Sara Lee has acquired an ultra-premium tea business based in Massachusetts.

    The company said it acquired Tea Forté, a company founded in 2003 by former Museum of Modern Art designer Peter Hewitt, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition, Sara Lee said, strategically fits the company's strategy to spin off its CoffeeTeaCo business. CoffeeTeaCo will retain the current management team of Tea Forté to run the business independently before integrating it into its international coffee and tea operations, Sara Lee noted.
