NEW YORK — New research that will appear in the upcoming issue of the Journal of Marketing Research explores consumer sentiment over the extension of a premium brand outside of its typical category.

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — A company that makes an emergency treatment for severe allergic reactions is marking the 15th annual Food Allergy Awareness Week.

Mylan Specialty, a division of drug maker Mylan, said it would support various initiatives to raise awareness of life-threatening food allergies during the special week, which started Sunday and ends Saturday. Mylan Specialty is the maker of EpiPen (epinephrine), used to treat anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can occur quickly and without warning.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — 3M on Monday announced the fourth annual Nexcare give program, a nationwide initiative that in partnership with the American Red Cross helps raise awareness around the need for blood donations.

“We are so grateful to all donors for their lifesaving work. Each blood donation can help save up to three lives, so what better way to serve your community than by giving blood regularly,” said Dan Waxman, president of America’s Blood Centers.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid category manager Paul Margeson has resigned, a company spokeswoman said.

Rumors surfaced last week that Margeson, who managed the pain care, gastrointestinal, smoking-cessation and upper-respiratory categories for the Camp Hill, Pa.-based retail pharmacy chain, had resigned.

"We thank him for his contributions to the company," Rite Aid spokeswoman Ashley Flower told Drug Store News, adding that the company intends to fill the position.

CHICAGO — MinuteClinic, which is owned by CVS Caremark, announced on Monday that it has joined a coalition of organizations dedicated to raising diabetes awareness among families on Chicago's South Side.

The coalition is working with Perspectives Charter School Calumet Campus to educate, screen, diagnose and, if needed, provide follow-up care to any student diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes.
